Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Town hall

Anyone else see the Whokesale banking town hall? They were talking about treasury payments one minute and then an African American lady (in a bright orange dress) hijacked the mike and starting telling the entire executive team they are racist and don’t live the truist values and sc--wed up in project star. She went for 20 min and they couldn’t stop her. Amazing.

Whoa - Did she really get fired? If I was her, I would lawyer up. And she can't afford an attorney, then she needs a GoFundMe page. CRAZY Times! I feel like we are in the Twighlight zone.

I’m just trying to figure out how RTO helps me, the majority of my team is out of state. We’re in 4 different offices I. I guess having a teams meeting from my office is much more productive from a building than at my house lol

Those so worked up by RTO, yep, you have to come back to the office. Banks are more productive when that happens. Go find another job and leave your voluntary at will job or maybe on welfare since you’re such a victim here. LOL

@2vzy+1sqMj11N You obviously haven't been here long enough to know where being productive gets you.

So when did we start working for a welfare state? While I share some of the concerns and characteristics of the woman who expressed hers, there is one difference. I am not a child who expects to be coddled.

Since when has having a job been a right? Seriously RTO brings emotional hardship? If my kids have gotten over it and returned to school every day it would seem grown a-s adults who get paid should be able to do the same.

If you think you aren’t being compensated for the value you bring to the company - which I do believe there are cases where this is true - and you believe there are other firms who are prepared too - make it happen. No one is stopping you. Or use the many tools in place to raise your concerns without being unprofessional.

I come from neither of the predecessor banks. And am not one of the high flying , disconnected leaders mentioned frequently here. But I am an employee, with concerns and doubts about where the company is right now. Bi--hing about it goes no where. Try being productive.

I look forward to the sad emotional jabs and conspiracy theories that result from a bit of reality.

Wow....I'm appalled that a higher up would make a joke about RTO 4 days especially since it is causing emotional and financial hardships on the worker bees. No wonder Lady X went off... good for her! I hope she inspires others to do the same!

Where. Is. The. Video? Come on folks, it’s 2024, where everyone whips out a phone when a train wreck is in progress. You KNOW someone has it.

The young lady said what so many employees are thinking, but didn't have the courage to say. Truist's new leaders do not care about employees or their well being. Their focus has been pointing fingers and trying to point out all the things that team members are doing wrong with no acknowledgement for the many things that they do right. These new leaders are focused on bringing in their friends so when the young lady made the point about current employees not being considered for upward mobility and external candidates being hired over internal candidates there were ZERO lies told. In addition, requiring teammates to return to the office when a good portion of these new leaders are remote is hypocritical and insensitive. I'm glad she had the courage to stand up and I hope others do the same. For those of you referring to the employee as a "bad seed" I hope you keep that same energy when you are the one being mistreated or let go. #WESTANDWITHHER

When Q&A started, the moderator made a joke about starting with RTO but they went with a “live audience” question and that’s where the woman stood up. After that whole situation, the moderator said “how about we try a lighter topic like RTO” as another joke. And she answered.

To the person asking why Kristin brought up RTO: the woman that went off mentioned that in her rant I’m told. Among other things.

Can you go more into Kristen saying “once you are back in the grind of the office you won’t even remember what it’s like to work at home”

Did someone ask a question about RTO or did she just bring it up like they are doing is a favor by making us do something that no one was stopping anyone from doing if you wanted to.

Also the “grind of the office” the grind of the office is what no one misses. So out of touch.

My second favorite part of the meeting was when Kristen totally tried to gaslight everyone by saying “once you are back in the grind of the office you won’t even remember what it’s like to work at home” as if we all will love it. Truist might as well join the Ringling Bros on tour because this place is a circus.

Bill Rogers will be next. I am sure the Board of Directors are preparing his parachute packet now for a Q4 exit. Truist work environment is toxic. Executives are forcing colleagues to come into the office 4 times a week when all the new hires from PNC and Wells live outside the foot print but continuously championing a return to office culture when they will be working comfortably from their home. Bill Rogers has driven the stock price down by 40%. The sale of Truist Insurance Holdings and Mike Maguire tried so effortlessly to sell it to the audience that it puts Truist in a much better position than it's peers.

Many folks are being layered and not considered for any upper ward mobility in an organization that is given 1-2% raises YoY while burning out it's employees but remember like Bill Rogers keeps reiterating over and over again #Purpose.

Oh let's not forget about the layoffs due to Project Star in 2023 and Star Light in February 2024 where Agile teams were told to pack up their personal belongings without any notice or consideration.

Kudos to the young lady who was bold, courageous, and outspoken. She told the truth about Truist.

If you’re going to go off like that, in front of a huge audience like that, then all I ask is you come prepared. Iron out your speech in advance. For all I know she had incredibly valid points, but it was hot mess express from where I was sitting. Improv isn’t for everyone.

She is saying what most are thinking. It is a train wreck. If you have worked at Truist then you already know that. The part about her statement that caused her to lose credibility was she was from SunTrust. Everyone knows that was a shoddy organization.
