Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

The 5PM call is about the road ahead. A portion of the network is getting sold off and supported elsewhere.

So...anyone willing to share the details?

In all seriousness, I would expect some major building locations now that everyone is remote. Who needs offices anyways. Rochester, Charlotte, Hiawatha, etc

Well said. Lots of smoke and mirrors accounting to hide their mistakes and squeeze more cash out. Now that they are out of government scrutiny there are no public records like we had for KEIP / KERP bonus pools. I imagine that Elliot is looking at all assets for cash and shopping around the CLEC network.

I would also expect some movement from Elliot on the frontier integration into the ILEC network in the coming months.

The CLEC network is all either EOL equipment or leased gear. And correct, all the fiber is either leased from another carrier or owned by Unity. Its a house of cards and a majority of the customers are TDM that they lose money on. Parts Elliot cannot sell will just be shut down. Remember, now we are dealing with a bank. They dont care how many OfficeSuite headsets are in each state, they only care about profit. And the CLEC side hasnt turned a profit in over a decade.

TT already cheated WS out of their OSP, now he is after the piles of sh1t sitting in the POP sites trying to squeeze a little more blood before they drive the stake thru it’s heart

Transport systems between CLEC and ILEC sites continue to be installed. Also, most TDM equipment bases are associated to ILEC, not CLEC. If CLEC is sold off, then the strategy will be to soak the ILEC for connectivity until they install their own Transport systems (years and millions of dollars away), or use another third party that will retain leverage over the ILEC. Any doubts about this dependency?
Regarding Technicians, the union ILEC techs escort contractors into offices exclusively since they lack the skills and tools (and motivation) to do the work as opposed to non-union CLEC techs that can do the work and don't just babysit contractors. I don't quite understand the false narrative being presented but suspect it is to distract from the above facts.
However, when all raises and promotions only to a select few (approx. 1% of the work force) you have to eventually give up hope and attack within I suppose. Nobody asks questions any longer at meetings or townhalls because we know answers are NOT forthcoming. Discussions on why employees should care about the company's future never include details that directly apply to the other 99% - increasing work load and stress with no increase in pay is not positive if this is too difficult for some to understand. The term raise means inflationary adjustment to stay even with inflation, not actual increases in pay beyond.
I also suggest competitors and the government actively monitor this situation since they completely dropped the ball on deceptions by Leadership. Elliott / Windstream will try to move equipment and reassign offices between ILEC and CLEC divisions and then falsely claim expenditures for reimbursement from government programs and also illegally claim depreciation from used equipment that has already been depreciated for reporting purposes.
Don't get me wrong! I would like to come onto this board and provide positives statements, but again eventually you have to give up hope. The only good news is WINDSTREAM IS NOT A PRISON.......right TT? Do you tell Elliott that one in meetings?

UNITY owns the outside plant not the equipment it's connected to. In some instances they also maintain the transmission equipment.
Most of the CLEC network rides on net ILEC or leased circuits from a 3rd party.

In the end someone will end up buying the gear and customers, that's the only value play right now.
100s of colo's just burning cash right now.

Sell what network? Uniti owns the network, not Windstream.

There is no chance for the CLEC side anymore. It has been dying for the last few years and the final nail is being driving as the LR5 take their final payouts

Only way for Elliot to make money is quickly break up the CLEC side and sell it off. CLEC side loses millions every month and Elliot is not looking to consolidate and rebuild telecom networks over the next several years with no ROI.

Probably only management invited, and ALL Windstream employees know that they have been castrated or neutered and dare not speak truthfully. But good time to work for Windstream, you will be treated poorly and pressured, but it is a two way street and any guilt for slacking dissipates quickly.
