Mid career engineering, been offered a role at Pratt. Coming in from the competitor in Cincy. What’s the work environment like ? I see talk of layoffs but seems like they’re hiring quite a bit. Some risk to the move but could be good career wise because comp was meh. Would appreciate any thoughts

Stay at GE (Generous Electric)
We’re about to lose F135 to GE
Lots of reorganization going on and more to come
Yeah no - GTF products are junk and F135 about to get sunk.
Business remains solid as a ploy to sell spares - might get away with that under a military contract but commercial customers will (and are) taking their business elsewhere.
How do I get a seat in the new ETC that CT taxpayers paid for?
I'd like to go there and write my blog. Oh, I can't because its on company property?
We'll see. :)
The cost of living in Connecticut will eat away any pay raise Pratt is promising you; you will pay $7k+ in housing taxes and $1k+ in car/exise tax in CT…. I bet Ohio’s housing taxes are significantly less than CT..
Are you drunk?
You are making 30% more than you would be here and I won’t even begin to rant about the cost of living.
Go get ya some Skyline chili and get back to work.
Then of course if this is P&W HR playing tricks then I congratulate you on actually doing something besides protecting unskilled minorities two labor grades above me that I trained.
If you read this - think. P&W is done - Calio / Raytheon will spin us off.
This is losers’ board, you won’t get any positive reply, bottom line is business remains solid for many years to come, not much competition.
