@4dhu I agree with you about if Belk still want to stay in business for a long time. Many other retail places like Home Depot and big Walmarts already cut payrolls by installed many self-checkout cash registers in their stores. The big question is how deep and how cheap you want Belk company to survive by more cutbacks and layoffs? There is no “efficiency and quality customers services”anymore as you have noticed lately at Belk stores! Don’t give Belk top leaders more cheap ideas to think. I am sure they are working daily and thinking more cutbacks in payrolls everyday at our Belk stores!

4smt, this is 2saj, if we are staying in business, there are nobody left to cut and layoff! On a weekday there is 1register person for the whole floor. Support is on bare minimum also, and I’m not even starting about specialties like visual. If we’re wrapping up, then, of course, there will be cuts and layoff. If we are in business, can we function with nobody to make a register transaction or process a truck?

@2saj Belk company can still sell some or all retail stores and write off tax as the net loss for the year. It is not about "there is nobody left to cut and layoff" Belk does not care if you are working for them as loyal workers. It is only how much for Belk top leaders to get so much cash and squeeze out maximum profits for them before closing all Belk stores for good!

Do they still have people working on the floor? Last time I went to the one by me it felt like it was only customers in the place. I half-wondered if self check outs had been installed lol

Ask your STM managers at Belk the reply will be we are doing great just bad RUMOR. Take a good look at your own all Belk stores right now with no new merchandises and low sale profit, slow foot traffic and always understaffed sales workers on the floor, the answer is TRUE!
