Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

News for the SLT since they are "following things closely"

https://patch.com/new-jersey/mendham-chester/breakthrough-covid-19-cases-deaths-nj-heres-what-know

"The New Jersey Department of Health has been tracking "breakthrough" cases – positive coronavirus cases that occur in people who are fully vaccinated, which is defined as individuals who are 14 days past the date of their final vaccine dose. Eighty-four of the state's 3,474 vaccine breakthrough cases have required hospitalization. Thirty-one of those infected have died, and officials note that translates to a 99.9993 percent effective vaccine. "

Of all the NJ residents with both vaccination shots 3,474 have been infected again, 84 had to be hospitalized and 31 died.

"Dr." Tom Ferraro on our call yesterday said we have to pay attention to the probabilities and statistics. I propose that since he and the SLT are already probably in the top 1% economically, we let them also be in the 1% of re-infection and death risk. Don't take me the wrong way, I'd never wish illness or death on anyone, however I certainly don't want these people making decisions for me and my family.

I don't like those odds, especially since long term impact of COVID is unknown and there are some scary cases out there with people having seemingly permanent heart, lung, and other issues.

No. It's not all the same main stream media talking points.

I acknowledge that there ARE risks. You are right, there is a chance that your kid will get heart damage, and a chance that your mom will get Gillian Barre, and a chance that your dad get blood clots.

But it is a very small chance.

You have to weight that against the chance that you get COVID. If you do get COVID, you might get over it just like a cold. Or, you might have long term COVID that damages your heart and lungs. Or, you might rack up large hospital bills. Or, you might die.

I doubt I'll change your mind. You'll only change your mind if you get seriously sick. Then you'll be telling everyone to get the shot.

In any case, when we RTO, I don't want to be near those of you that choose not to be vaccinated. I hope they put you in a different area. Preferably a different floor. You can interact with each other since you are not contributing to helping the population achieve herd immunity (at least not until COVID spreads through the vaccinated cohort like wild fire).

Everyone is regurgitating the same main stream media talking points. it's all vax all day. The unvaxed are the problem . nonsense.
It's all funny til your kid gets heart damage,, or your mom gets Gillian Barre, or your dad dies from blood clots, or your have extensive nerve damage. Or whatever. It's all funny til your are holding you damaged child.

This thread is hilarious.... they say everyone is free to choose, and look at y'all pickin' each other apart. None of you has the sense to know that you don't know it all. Let's stick to layoffs, and if you want, go make your own vax page.

@disgruntled You are aware that there are people who cannot take the vaccine at all? What would you wish upon them?

@begging... very sad you think you have it ALL figured out..... good luck doing all that following and no research.

They should not be laying people off. Just let the unvaccinated go to the office without their masks for headcount reduction.

Uh, what research are you reading?

Do you think the vaccine will make you infertile?
Do you think it will cause children to be born with birth defects?
Do you think Bill Gate's is planting micro-chips in it to control you?
Do you think the whole thing is a plot by the new world order to control you and dominate the world?

Suit yourself.

But, if you get sick and wish you'd gotten the vaccine, please post here and say so.

Meanwhile, enjoy a laugh: https://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/vaccine-game-show/4338734

@begging..and I am begging you to stop blindly following and do some of the analysis yourself. compare the numbers, look at the studies. things are not hashing out the way you are being told they are.

Yes, the vaccine is EUA. But, for you small government folks (and I'm actually one of those), what would you do if there were no FDA to make "approvals"? You'd look at the data yourself and ask people that are knowledgeable and that you trust. Presumably you trust your own doctor. If you don't, you should get another doctor. What does your doctor say?

Many of the treatments that hospitals are using to save COVID infected patients lives are only Emergency Use Authorized. If you end up in the hospital, gasping for breath, are you going to reject a treatment because it is only Emergency Use Authorized? Let me answer for you. No, you're not. You're going to do and try anything you can to live.

Saw a clip on the news of this last night. Most of patients in such a situation said they'd be getting the vaccine as soon as they got out of the hospital and that they very much regretted not getting it.

This is serious. Get the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine. I'm begging you.

@2rij+1bVhjPEf--sorry but with the amount of vax'd people getting Covid and going to hospital, seems like the benefit is not that large, and because it's EUA, and not fully tested or approved, they have no idea what the risk is?

@Doing Mah Research - if those numbers are real, they are surprisingly low.

I thought insurance people understood risk/benefit calculations. There is a small risk with the vaccine that has a large benefit. Easy decision. Get it.

Do you happen to have numbers for St. Louis, MO and Wilmington, DE?

Ha! Our HR staff is likely under 50% vaccinated. I always knew they were id--ts, but I didn't realize it was that bad out in their neck of the woods.

You id--ts who subscribe to conspiracies are the problem and the reason our country will face ongoing economic turmoil.

@worth considering of course, people are id--ts. They are the same ones who will claim to be vaccinated but won't really be. They will come into the office with no mask. Or they will be the people who only wear the mask over their mouth.

@DrRuth - Does the flu have unknown permanent side effects?

by

It’s no different than the flu shot. You don’t get 100% immunity, but gives your body the ability to fight and shorten the duration of the virus.

We should not be returning to the office in September! The risk is too great. The vaccines don’t protect they just mitigate symptoms for those at high risk (initially) and then US Government decided to vaccinate the remains population!

These vaccines are so new and not tested they can’t even say if or when you need a booster shot!

The are not vaccines as we know the definition to be. I liken them to temporary assistance to help you fight the disease when you get it.

The FDA, pharmaceutical companies and the Government are making a huge mess.

I’m emailing my supervisor and informing I’m not returning to office in September

@Keypoint agree everyone should get vaccinated, however those numbers still aren't good. I don't want to be one of the 80+ hospitalized or 30+ dead. The % will likely be worse in an office setting where there are going to be people wearing masks incorrectly, wearing cloth masks (not n95s) and lying about being vaccinated.

Here's the key point:

"These numbers speak for themselves. We only have a pandemic among the unvaccinated," Governor Phil Murphy said Monday. "Everyone ages 12 and up who is eligible should go and get vaccinated."
