UK grads / apprentices - take note

So as an ex apprentice who left last year I warn any other would-be apprentices / grads to use DXC as a stepping stone to better things and expect nothing more.

I was on less than £20k a year and despite being promised a pay rise to £30k+ for the role I moved into (which came with a promotion to Level 4) I still wasn’t any better a year later.

All answers I got were "the DXC process makes it difficult to get a pay rise of more than 10%" and "X manager is very process driven" but they were happy to bring in new staff to my team at £40-50k a year (like the 3 "proactive problem managers" brought into aerospace for a total of £160k)

Most of the people I know to be left are ex grads / apprentices & entry level people who got promoted into mid-senior roles without any of the managerial authority or financial benefits it should entail.

If you work on BAE, use it as an opportunity to gain some experience / credibility as they are a good example of the client hiring talent inhouse. I know quite a few ex DXC folks who got recruited by the client particularly in service management.

Don't hang around any longer than you need.

My advice is use DXC as a stepping stone, get your experience and ask questions. Loyalty does NOT pay. As simple as that. It can provide good exposure and experience however won't pay well. You need to leave, come back to get the pay, or just leave in its entirety

I am in exactly the same situation, how many years were you with DXC?
