Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Ga techs still getting their 8% but not me

Here we go again with the GA cst's getting 8% while the rest of us are lucky to get a measley 1%. Why the disparity mr new CEO? How about giving us all a decent raise so we can afford to buy groceries and gas in the same week? Instead of having to choose what meds I can afford this month and which ones I can do without. What a sh---y company we work for.

Windstream has been laying off steadily for the past 7-ish years. Given that info & the lack of raises/career opportunities despite increased degrees & certifications, I made backup plans. Finally got laid off & am loving it & am sleeping in today. Read "Extreme Ownership" & don't rely on someone else for your financial income. I barely spent anything, investing everything, & I'm definitely reaping the benefits, as my passive income is more than my annual income was. Don't let a job or manager limit how much you can make.

It is not just GA techs. ALL non union field techs get 8% each year until topped out.

One of the worst decisions TT made from a business standpoint. Some of the GA techs were going to unionize. He told them if they agreed not to he they would get 8% raises in perpetuity.

Legal told him what he was doing was illegal and that he locked Windstream into giving 8% raises to all GA techs instead.

Costs the company millions of dollars and this was before the bankruptcy. He should have been fired then but our board was full of id--ts apparently.

My area is non union & all field techs that are cst 1 are being bumped to cst 2 with raise & everyone else gets 8% until topped out.

Lmao-marginal tax rates! U worry about marginal tax rates, I’m charging as much OT as I can get away with and doing my side thing.

Those 1% raises are just costing you more in taxes, minimal of course

Tell me you don't understand marginal tax rates without telling me you don't understand marginal tax rates

Not true. Most field techs I know are just being entrepreneurial and taking an advantage where they see one for their own gain(raise), and gaining back loss of wages due to inflation. Those 1% raises are just costing you more in taxes, minimal of course. Use the truck and tools you have to make your own raise and improve your family economics. Try one of the job boards out there. You can make an extra few hundred a week if you play that game right. Plus someone else said to charge like 12% OT, which seems high. I try not to charge more than 8-9%. Good luck.

Ga is non union and they were promised 8% until they topped out. Now even thise tooped out are getting the 8%. Those that are being moved from CST 1 to CST2 are also getting a bigger raise in some cases as much as 17%. So tell me how that is fair to anyone else in the company? And for those of you saying you do nothing all day or you run around in your truck or you sit at the CO or deliver Uber eats I’m calling bullsh-t. Either your manager is in on this scam by letting you get away with it or you are full of it

You're just mad you didn't think of coming up with this idea before me. There's lots of opportunities out there, this time of year Amazon is looking for contract drivers.

I went out and picked up some large magnets to cover up the company logo while I do my extra work activities. I mean, all you have to do is get your work done, then plan your drives out to the point that you can use the company vehicle to courier packages and people to their destinations.

The only time things got sketchy was that time I ran over a ho---r back in 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off He-l In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer's table back in the Alltel days.

You all doing this shady stuff are ruining the raises and promotions for the rest of us.

You have to create your own raise sometimes.

I've been using my truck to run uber eats between my tickets, that way it doesn't look like I'm not working while making money on a side and I'm not spending money on gas.

So instead of getting a 1 percent, I'm pocketing an extra couple hundred per week in my area.

Keep dreaming non bargaining folks. Once you hit the level that WS has predetermined, absolutely nothing you do will get you higher than that 1%. I think the number is like 34.50 an hour, then 1% for life. So keep doing all those reviews and check ins like the robot they want you to be. Or, you could always make your own raise, nobody gives a cr-p if you’re charging under 12% OT. No one is watching your GPS.

Next question : is that 8% a year or spread out over the term of the contract? Have you seen the inflation numbers. Everybody should be getting a huge bump. Look at all the other jobs out there getting huge raises. It’s time Windstream takes care of their people and stop giving all the gold to the top brass.

Bargaining v. non-bargaining. Most of KY is also bargaining and it's in the contract. Not sure if it 8% though.

I'd bet they get 8% because they're union, and you're getting 1% because you're not.

And that's why they don't want us talking starting a bargaining unit.

But, the better question is why did Tony get millions in bonuses and we got nothing. It's not employee VS employee. It's all of us against management and leadership.

This is complete BS. What do they do that makes them so much better than the rest of us? Oh I forgot. It’s Windstream we’re talking about here.
