Thread regarding T. Rowe Price Group Inc. layoffs

The warning signs I wish I'd known

I'm putting this out there for my former coworkers who might be in denial like I was. You might be getting managed out if your work is suddenly being micromanaged. If you're getting impossible deadlines. If you're being left out of meetings you used to attend. If your responsibilities are shrinking. If your wins are being ignored. If your requests for time off or training are being denied. If you're getting in trouble for things others do daily. I saw all of these before I was let go, I just didn't want to believe it.

@2p4 looks like someone ranted out on multiple threads before taking their kids to see the game!!

Are you in the cheap seats under the Lounge you are raging about ??

@2nv Double standards - some get replaced by Accenture. Some don't. Some get BS waivers to work remote. Some don't. I'm over this creepy dump. Our family is going to Camden Yards - I wonder how much booze will be guzzled in the T Rowe suite/TRUIST lounge today? Maybe they are laying so many people off to cover their bar/concessions tabs at Orioles/Ravens games. Harbor Point didn't have to be so expensive - but again, they have money for their own comforts and pleasures. I know I know - I guess I should just sit and watch Netflix and my attitude will be better.

@OP what bugs me is the double standards when this doesn’t apply to the supervisor’s favourites. If it was uniform across the board, I wouldn’t mind.

@OP from a manager’s perspective there needs to be this micromanagement when performance is lacking. When times were good I rarely saw this level of micromanagement. What is wrong however is some teams don’t experience this even though they need it the most. I’m sure there’s teams like this all over the world. Saying you’ve got new people and are too busy is not an excuse.

@eg In our team that has ALWAYS been standard (Access to Full Outlook Calendar of Staff)

@eg that’s normal. Teams often share calendars.

Don’t let your caution get to paranoia

Yeah I get the feeling he’s insecure and he’d throw me under the bus to save himself without a second thought. I keep work and personal completely separate so no issue there.

@f3 Exactly why I don’t use my work email or computer for any personal business. No exceptions. I also don’t connect to the WiFi with my personal phone for the same reason.

@eg Your Manager sounds like a micromanaging Dou--e. Ours has not had that bright idea yet, but he is nonetheless a dou--e was well, and a backstabber. Anyway, the only thing I can think of is that he thinks everyone is so d-mb that they are using their T Rowe Email for personal reasons. He is probably looking to see who sent their wife a quick email or received an e-card from a friend at this address. Then they can say you misused your account and have an excuse to "cut". Look for a new job - and not an internal one. That same manager will ruin your chances.

My manager asked for full Outlook calendar access from our whole team - is this normal? No reason was given

@ay Sadly, this is not new. Nor is it a result of what is currently transpiring. It's simply pi-s poor execution and a lack of respect for others.

This place is the most heartless group I have ever had the misfortune of encountering. They only treat employees well and with respect if they need them and for as long as they need them. The person who is your boss's pet now could easily be turned on by his boss and everyone above him if Accenture wines and dines them and they decide to take over your job, or they find a piece of software or AI bot that can do the work. They can change on a DIME. In January a coworker got an interview invite here at Harbor Point. They were shocked by the opulence on display for a company with continuous outflows and giving US workers the shaft for "savings". After waiting 10 minutes, the security person came over to them and said they were sorry, but the hiring team is no longer interviewing for the job. The cancel meeting didn't go out til 15 minutes after the meeting started. At least their parking was validated.

Sorry to hear about it. This is kind of you to share.
I would add if you get ignored by seniors even in casual conversations that might be a sign. Remember nobody has a perfect poker face.
