Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

I'm out

Finally took the plunge, found the exact same job for more dollar, interviewed and offered job. Handed notice in and now I'm on my way out.

My new contract says annual pay rises issued in April of each year!

So long DXC, I encourage you all to do the same.

You can think what you want, but I am a hard worker, I always met my goals and had been achieving the highest FPR rating in the last few years. The only time I silently quit was during my final phase of my notice period, because I'd handed most of my duties over to my colleagues who weren't exactly happy to be lumbered with additional work.

Ultimately, the cost of living expenses here in the UK caught up with me and with the lack of a pay rise since forever and now this 'deferred pay increase', well I was left with no choice but to look elsewhere.

I have sensed already that my new employer is better than working for DXC, one of the first things a new colleague said to me was to order 2x 27inch monitors and a stand, so long as the cost is under £250 per moniter, it doesn't need to be authorised. Would DXC offer this home set up? All I was working from was a measly plastic laptop riser.

I've been set my goals - which were reasonable and relevant to my role, none of these silly DXC Values.

We have discussed and created a training plan, where I was able to highlight the kind of skills I want to learn. I can take any Microsoft exam I want for free, without paying up front and having to get re-imbursed. And all other exams/external training will also be provided if the course is less than £2k.

I've had regular manager check-ins, attended well organised scrum meetings, used the IT support team a few times who are quick to respond and resolved my issues resolved almost instantly - with no annoying ticket system.

Yesterday I received an email from the managing director of the company stating how the company understands the economic environment is tough at moment and so they will issue every employee with £500 in December's pay packet, to put towards fuel costs - or to spend on whatever you want!

So overall first impressions are more favourable than the DXC world I've left behind.

What are you guys on about? "Entitled" - "forgotten to do a day's work"

I guarantee you that while there are some people in DXC who are sat about waiting for their monthly wage / stuff to approve to come in there are many more who have been working their nuts off. Wholly unfair to say that.

I was working 60-70hrs a week every week just to try and make up some OT for my poor (less than 20K) salary before I left a few months ago.

@3clx You are so right. As a proove, since the shoring is 70% and more, DXCs earnings went up, DXCs success rate with new deals has improved, and DXCs reputation as a trusted partner in market is growing.

Err, no. In fact, the opposite has happenend.

Am sure this guy was an entitled paper pusher - just joining meetings to fill his timesheet in an expensive country. Let's hire two hands on hard working resource in the best shore location and sure the customer will be thrilled.

Good luck and good riddance..people like you doing rest of us a favour by leaving with your warped sense of entitlement.

Good to hear that you got a job. But ensure that you do some productive work in your new company, cause most dxc'ers have forgotten to do a full day's work.

A word of warning. I left DXC after two years. It took me more than six months to stop living in dread of the next round of WFR. Don't underestimate the damage that DXC has done to you during your time there. I went through endless cycles of being 'at risk' while deciding who to lay off from my own team. My new employer didn't work that way, but it took me ages to get myself out of the mindset of wondering what was going to happen next.

On the plus side, most employers really don't want to cut staff. It's a last resort for most. They also want to reward people for good work.

You are better off out, as everyone who's left DXC knows.
