Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Global Town Hall - Good News - GO DXC

Leadership hears us and merit is important. They are committed to launching the merit process, making 'affordable' pay raises active come Dec 2024. That's great, but its late and still a soft commitment from them. After years of figuring this out, they think they finally have it and we can now plan for it. Next year they will do it mid year, just like they committed last year.

Now that they get it, time to hold the rank and file accountable going forward. Raul seems not happy with many of us. For me, the messaging is amazing. After failing us for years, they will finally deliver numerous months late, and say they will get it together next year on a regular cycle.

I wonder how everyone took this messaging. Was it fair, discuss please?

'Did y’all get a raise?': Dr FILL says you need an additional $11,434 a year to maintain the same living standard you had in 2021....

@2noa+1uBNXPab There is a difference between being busy and working hard and being productive. Staff on my team will tell you they are busy. But I've not seen much useful output from all the meetings they attend, documents they work on and endless emails they send. These people spend significantly longer doing the paperwork than the task, and yet still make mistakes anyway, so it all gets done and fixed by the dwindling number of people who do still know how to do the job.

Even if you're rated 1, for several years, you still get nothing.
The one thing I don't understand from this site, is where are all these people doing nothing? On my project hundreds of DXC staff work incredibly hard, they might get the same as people doing nothing, no argument there, but I've never met anyone who doesn't try

In most companies, there's a core group of staff who keep everything running. They understand the bigger picture and take the necessary actions to drive progress. These people need incentives to stay motivated. Unfortunately, DXC isn’t offering any of that. In fact, it’s clear you can do next to nothing and still keep your job.

While I'm glad there are redundancies, the real issue is that the good people will likely be let go, while those who should have been gone long ago will stay. These individuals will quietly sit back, watching as more talent and knowledge walk out the door. Later, they'll claim they were never shown how to do the job, leading to tasks being abandoned or the company rehiring for those roles at 20% higher salaries.

This "1..3" rating scheme is ridiculous. If you really want to measure performance, score people out of 100. That way, you can see clearly who’s an 85 and who’s a 10. The current system just lumps everyone together with a "2," and when that meager 1% raise finally comes around, everyone gets the same, regardless of effort.

It’s no wonder people hate DXC and have stopped trying to make a difference.

Where are these layoffs, and how do we get on the list?

At least one thing is true, layoffs have started. Even to people that won’t have a good change on the market any more “to old” just a few years before pension.

30% would readjust baseline back to what it was.
It wouldn't recompense for the lost pay, but would be a start.

Even if this miracle does happen I suspect the key word is "affordable" (to dxc) which is probably similar to the one off increase salvino did... About 1%.

Not entirely sure a 1% raise even annually is what anyone will be happy with.

It's probably got to be at least 5% for the complaints to stop and for it to come every year if you meet your objectives.

On Monday Howard said raises already done and lots of us have had it. The last part is definitely bollocks. Raul was on the call.
On Friday Mary said process starts in October and raises will happen in December. Raul was on the call. That's the same story Mary has been telling for 6 months.
Regardless of which liar, sorry leader you believe, they both can't be right.
Given the years of broken promises, no one will believe it until they see it in their bank accounts.

Also thought it a bit rich Raul complaining.
About manager engagement only 50%, I'm amazed it was that high, for 7+ years managers have been blamed by one CEO after another for not implementing their vision properly and at the same time having to deal with angry disengaged employees.
Also the threats about raises being dependent on performance was a fu--ing joke. We've been performing for years and DXC has gone that's worth fu-k all, when you fix the years of neglect, only then can you talk about pay for performance.

It clearly doesn't matter what you do or don't do. Your pay review will be 0%. Management are too busy telling us they are too busy, endlessly escalating the trivial and attending meetings about having meetings. In the end we all know they'll say someone worked very hard to crunch the numbers and many people got a rise, but if you didn't, maybe next time. Another year same bullsh-t.

I don’t believe it , when you see a merit pay increase of over 5% in your pay check this year and next if you meet some and exceed some I’ll believe it.

We work to get paid , we work hard to get paid more , it’s so simple you don’t even need digital transformation or AI to figure it iut

Einstein's Parable of Quantum Insanity - “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” If you've waited 10 long years for a pay raise and still believe these kleptomaniacs when they tell you "a pay raise is just around the corner", then insanity might be a valid diagnosis. Boiled down to a low gravy, if you really wish to BUILD A FRUITFUL CAREER, DXC is NOT the company to do it with. PERIOD. HARD STOP. OVER AND OUT!

OP here, many great responses to show that some employees are still awake. We still have some dullards like @dpz+1uBNXPab that would read my post as legit enthusiasm.

My biggest issue was the delay of 6 months (again) and the aggressive pivot to holding someone accountable. Why not hold MF accountable, this process is not complex and should have been sorted 2 years back. Do it on time, say no raise and tell us to pi-s off. Fine, just do it on time. My clients would exit me in 1 quarter for kicking the can this hard.

Basically DXC wants you to quit so it doesn't need to give you a pay off. What it's not bargained on it all the people who just love the abuse and won't. And the rest who stay got a 2nd job already, so don't need to quit, and DXC money is a nice bonus.

Given how many lies we've been fed about pay for so many years then I think everyone is unlikely to believe anything said about it.

The constant dangling of the carrot is just plain mental abuse now.

Well if management are getting raises and the people at the coal face not, I think it’s the final nail in the coffin.

The whole pay system needs a shake up. You cannot expect people to do 25% more on 25% less than the person who sits next to them who doesn't do much in the first place. We're not fools, we know what out colleagues are on. If you can justify why they get more, then we'll know what it is we need to do in order to get the same. But at the moment you get 0% rise no matter how good or how cr-p you are at your job. This policy is destroying this company, and pretty much all anyone talks about.

It's not fake news as you can watch the replay using the original invite link and there is some vague mention of Dec 1st raises at the start of Q&A. What's not clear is how many employees will be included or what they might get. If it's just for managers as Mary seemed to let slip then it's no help. Raul's comment about not being happy was about not enough managers joining some meeting he held for them.

Mary in her usual vague way said something about focussing on our manager and senior analyst levels for December. Probably means no money for the developers actually delivery something. I wish they'd just say that and stop being so evasive.

Mikey2 promised this. We were told explicitly that pay rises in UKI would happen and it was prepped across the systems. It was pulled at the last minute. In a time of general pay rises of 5% A year in the U.K. so in until this is actually delivered. It’s all talk. And we have seen the talk before

Just bull, they say the same message every year.

If they cant paid it now they wont pay it in another 10 weeks, its just the usual tactics to keep people hanging on hoping.

It actually means were trying not to give you anything as usual.
