Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Saw something interesting on campus today

Normally WFH, but supervisor has started to force us in office. Walked through energy center and saw lunches outside of a conference room, which was odd. Saw senior corporate management names on them. Then saw 3 shiny new SUVs and 4 shiny town cars outside the energy center idling waiting to pick them up. Then put it all together. Rules don’t apply to all.

How tone deaf is our senior team? What audacity? #optics #besmarter #smh #DWNSI

@3sir+1aeL5FbC - XOM pays a good salary. So I’m going to stick around and milk it.
You don’t need to buy me zilch.

That’s humorous. DW doesn’t look like a success at all. He could be one of the worse or the worse ceo xom has ever had.

  1. Why were you dumb enough to hire on with EM?
  1. Why are you dumb enough to still be there?

Sounds like you are the double moron. Leave and I will see to it that you get a small lunch box. To go! Haha

@2mrz+1aeL5FbC - you fu(king moron. What success? The leadership team is a bunch of failures who ran the company into the ground.

Yep, free lunches and riding in shiny limos driven by others is just one of the numerous perks of success.

For the annual goal setting exercise, write that down (in invisible ink!) as one of your personal goals and work extra hard to achieve it.

Just remember that there are no written or unwritten contracts between the employee and XOM that says the company is obligated to take care of you forever.

I agree with op. It's tone deaf given what they did last year with the shady pip off. No worries history repeats itself and xom is following the GE path. I'm glad I'm out!

Despite ExxonMobil’s negative cumulative total shareholder return (-12%) from 2017 to 2019, total CEO compensation at the Company rose almost 35% during this period.

1gre+1aeL5FbC - you are missing the point. People are not envious of successful people. Exact opposite. The XOM leadership have been complete failures and need to be held accountable. Instead, the rank and file is being PIPed and laid off to make up for the leadership failure.

If treating people like $hit is success, then not interested..

Just look at you whiners envious of someone else who has worked hard and succeeded in life.

Perhaps you should look at DW's work history and the numerous sacrifices he made throughout his career (personal and professional) to get the brass ring.

Work hard and take prudent risks, instead of spending your time sitting on your fat assets and wasting your life away watching Bachelor/Bachelorette.

With hard work and a little luck, perhaps you too will some day become successful and a bunch of loser$ will be complaining about your successes and how life has done them wrong!

For completely destroying the value of this once great company, the “leadership” team needs to be tarred, feathered and paraded on donkeys around the campus.

Can’t be! Because DW has asked employees to vote Blue and all employees are sheeps in EM - so they will all vote blue for more abuse. I heard this is called Stockholm syndrome- playing out at Spring.

High dividend yield stocks are overrated since you are still lagging the overall market over 5-10 year periods. They only somewhat make sense if you just have so much money sitting around (10 Million+) and want a place to park it to get some passive income. If you don't already have that much money then there are better investment strategies. And if you did have that kind of many readily available, then you wouldn't care about employment or layoffs enough to be here.

My back channels say something is brewing proxy wise. I wonder if the CEO / Chairman split vote is not going Woods way ;). He can add that to his impressive pedigree right next to getting kicked out of the DOW and losing the bond rating.

No pay cut since covid started and sweet dividends.. DW is lucky that oil prices rebounded, not due to his effort..

Worse CEO ever

Agree their time is more “valuable.” Perhaps they can use their multi-million dollar per year compensation packages to... buy their own lunch like everyone else.

Why don't they move their corporate butts into the empty Crystal Palace and then there will be no need to have seven idling cars and no need to fly back and forth between Irving and Houston and shutdown Irving. Shutting down Irving would save a lot of $$$ and there is certainly plenty of room at the Palace. The airport is close by. And housing is close by.

Why do seven senior employees need seven separate cars to take them to te same airport?

This reminds me of the time the CEO was late to an employee forum because his private jet was taxiing.

OP would you prefer they drive dirty, old vehicles? Would that make you feel better? Would you prefer the drivers sit outside in the heat and humidity with the AC off rather than having the cars idle?

Op, you are pathetic. Oh my, did they have condiments? Did you see any ice? How big were the box lunches? This is such important information and only you are brave enough to share. Great recon!

Beyond Pathetic. With people like you, no wonder EM is struggling.

Agree with @ixxz .. what would you have wanted?
For them to waste time walking to cafeteria, stand in Chick Filet for 15 mins? Then eat and then go to the meeting room?
Get Uber and wait for Uber and then go to through commercial plane

Wake up - higher up you are, your time is more in demand. So it just makes too much sense that they get packed lunches and get escorted to airports and get private jets.

Rules are different but it’s for a good reason. If you can’t understand it, then I suggest talk to someone you respect and ask them about it.

What's the problem? They had individual lunches and a car to take them to the airport? How is this tone deaf?
