Belk is hiring anything that walks in the door

belk is so desperate they are hiring the bottom of the barrel, it can’t get any worse. $12 per hour desperation.

In the movie “Wall Street” Gordon Gekko said “Greed for lack of a better word is good”.
Why should Belk CEOs and top leaders give up their big salary and bonuses! Make the workers pay for their sweats and tears!

@2mnk. Don't forget to factor in the huge dividends that the investors take that incru huge debt on belk. As well as the massive salaries that ceo's and higher ups get. Why is it that they never have to give a penny up only the workers?

When there is a will, there is a way. When there is no will there is no way! The fish rots from the top right? My biggest concern is not about what Belk company can do better in the future if the current Nir Patel CEO at the top. It is the hedge fund “Sycamore Partners” is running and controlling Belk to the ground and into Chapter 11 with no logics and failing outdated stupid business strategies!
Take a look at Kohl’s current CEO Michelle Gass, she is doing an excellent job changing the company to Q3 big revenue profit! Again change must begin at the top or Belk current CEO can learn a lot from many other successful retail CEOs?

@2fal, you are right. The question is how to balance STH demand and store operations without spending too much on a payroll and compromising profits? There is plain as day connection between store dock efficiency/ floor recovery/ merchandising through the store and success of fulfillment department. In-store Customer service is still expected to be there, right? Can it be all done, keeping everybody’s work load manageable and paying decent wages without investing too much? I have no doubt it can! But it requires lots of smart planning and structuring. Lots of personal interest and pride to make this business successful and associates happy. Are there such people on a top of the company? I don’t know!

“A happy worker is a productive worker” is so true! If only Belk leaders and managers at Belk understand that simple concept clearly, then Belk workers don’t abandon ship and leave. Teach and work with your associates well so they can leave. Pay your associates well enough so they have a reason to stay with Belk! Thinking with your heads rather than thinking with your empty skulls please executive leaders?

Bell had a loyal, hardworking team of employees, but failed to recognize their worth, or give them raises. Some left after new hires came in making 12.00 per hour, which was more than the veteran associates.

Every time I think of Belk failing and know it all leaders and CEOs, I think of this statement from this late American actor.
"Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid."- John Wayne

"I’m a nudist, can I stand at the register in the nu-e ?"
"You are fine but Belk has a Dress Code to enforce you know!"
"I have a tattoo on my neck and a prison teardrop.
Can I start Tuesday"
"So if a person with one leg he or she has better chance to work at IHOP (I hop to work!) than to start at $12.00 at “One Belk” elegant clothing store?"
