Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Hoping for a VR

I want this VR so bad but cant seem to get it. Instead I'm stuck in a division (W&M) where all the talk is positive and how we are a big part of future DXC and the positivity seems so false and it is draining. I hate DXC and want to just leave but after 20 +yrs right or wrong I want to hang on and get a VR package

I think plenty of us are in the same boat, @6nvs+15akbhlt. Too many years to just walk away and no offer in sight. But we can keep hoping...

Nothing changes from the past
; no alternative strategies or levers that management are paid handsomely for. Sadly its the wrong people who pay and asking that level of incompetent management to reform themselves; triumph of hope over experience. Reality is DXC is a "me too" company with nothing different or understanding of the market direction. Lots of great rhetoric though.

@2abz & @2mkq seems we all have had similar experiences with our useless HR regarding VR. My particular favourite was when I asked them why they had missed their deadline for telling me whether my VR was approved or not was

"We weren't expecting so many people to be off in the last 2 weeks of December"

Sums HR perfectly !

@2abz funny how our experiences with VR have been very similar, it's such a frustrating process. Also like you I have spent most of the last week looking out the box room windows or on YouTube ;)

I mean the compulsory redundancy 1-1 consultations start on 8th June where they can't get enough through VR. This will almost certainly be the case, especially with COVID going on. In fact, last time I expressed an interest I ended up in all the good call / bad call stuff of CR because they were so damn slow. Of the last, maybe 4-5 times I've expressed an interest, I've had one definitive knock back, one that timed out somehow, and the other times remain unresolved.

You would think if they didn't want you to go they could (a) exclude you from the process or (b) let you know quickly. At least either of those options might restore some motivation. Alas no, they have to drag it out...

Needless to say, I spent most of the week looking out of the window

@2nhp: whats the 'CR' stuff starting Monday? I agree with you this hanging on waiting for HR or for someone to tell you if you are in the VR or not is typical of the way DC treats its employees. You are just left waiting and wondering what is going to happen

Has anybody had a quote yet? Typical nonsense where you're left hanging, and the CR stuff starts from Monday.

@2bus Harsh words. For many, it's not straightforward just to 'move along' and change jobs.

I honestly like my job - it keeps me engaged, and my boss gives me as much flexibility as I want with my schedule.

The big issue about the constant threats of WFR is that it completely torpedoes my motivation - it's had to motivate yourself to sink hours into a project when you might not be there to see it through.

You all are pathetic. All this b–ching getting nowhere. If you hate your job so much and you aren’t getting paid enough, then why in the hell are you still working at DXC!? Move along. If you think your deserve more then go somewhere else. You may not be as valuable as you think you are. Everyone is replaceable. Down vote this as much as you want. Just trying to speak some truth. It’s a tough job market these days. Secretly, deep inside, you are grateful for what you have... because you could actually be worse off. Jobless.

I think we've found the one person in dxc who is happy with being underpaid just so they can work for the glory of dxc.

I'm quite frankly amazed.

I guess you learn something every day.

Can't see that catching on, no matter how much you decide to rant abuse at the rest of us.

I work in healthcare specifically to make a difference. It's easy to double, even triple my salary working in finance or some other souless industry. So wind your neck in you massive fanny.

And unfortunately this is exactly the problem our glorious leaders have created. Why should the high performers leave without a pay off when they have seen literally tens of thousands be paid off to leave over the last however many years.
I am really not doubting the integrity of those still employed and continuing to work 12 hour days, but the company actively encourages staff to aim for lower ratings and reduce their contributions to try and engineer a pay off.
Combine this with the obscene benefits that ML and Salah (and a select few others) have taken over the years, and zero salary or bonus for those pulling out all the stops and you end up with a massively disillusioned workforce.

I've applied for VR the last few times. It is about time I retired. Not in scope for this round of WFR unfortunately. After years of box 1 markings it has become apparent the performance appraisal process is just a meaningless box ticking exercise so I asked my line manager for a box 4, might help get redundancy. It didn't seem keen. I have given myself a box 4 though. And as MS is looking at CATW billable time, I have changed my time recording to unassigned, so that might help with VR too with any luck.

Some of the posts here are clearly written by Sal himself or one of his goons. I am part of the leadership and every time there is a negative post about him or DXC he stews in his own saliva wanting to know who is posting these negative things about him!! It is very noticeable which are the posts that are coming from Sal and which are from actual employees. Focus on running the business Sal and not in PR!!

He's right though. Not everybody lives in a big city with a plethora of alternative opportunities. Depending on your age and location, it is quite reasonable to expect the level of compensation dictated by statute and contract.

Besides, not liking your employer doesn't mean you're a bad worker. It usually just means you'd rather be someplace else, but it's got to be under the right circumstances. So, if 6 months pay is the catalyst for change in your life, hang on in there.

I am going nowhere until I get VR or until this company ultimately fails, which I hope is very soon
