Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

RIF package amounts

What are the RIF packages being offered at other sites. At STST it's four weeks wages for every year of service up to 19 years. What is it like in the US or other locations and are there any other benefits such as allocation of money to retrain.

Don't get it wrong. SG does not have social unemployment benefit. The severance package is not a must in local law. There are loads and loads local companies with absolutely zero severance package.

Some local company even encourage its employee to do over time. SG gov closed one eye on this.

Singapore Government knows how to take care of their workers. That is why the severance is what it is not because Seagate is generous.

Before Nov 2022, the package of SG is capped at 30 yrs or unlimited, which I cannot remember exactly.

Later it came a HR director. She cut it to 18 years then she becomes VP. Holly sh-t!

I heard the rumors further cut is possible. If ShitGate is really a FAANG, it shall increase or double it. US FAANG has been greatly rotten by south east asia mean local culture. Yes, it is mean.

When WD brought over HOYA, they paid 1.5 MTHS for each year you are with the company. WD is more generous.

@1wgt+1nsIlnxg: they can afford that because Asia pay is much lower than other regions, especially US.
Yet indeed It is still very generous comparing to other companies in the same region.
