Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

So home office wants us back in the office

Tommy "strongly encourages" us to return to available and open offices per today's connections meetings. Some of us saw this coming. They couldn't sell and turn over a lot of the offices during the pandemic so now they want them to be used. We can only expect more and more of this to be "suggested" more in the future.

Part of me doesn't think this will happen, but part of me thinks this is exactly the screwed up thing that would happen.

The office I was in we had years left on the lease, I know the property manager as we happened to have some friends in common and it turns out they have had no interest in my old office space so Allstate is still paying.

If I go back in the office Lumbergh is going to badger me about my TPS report and the fact that I didn't use the pre-approved cover sheet.

@2iip+1iBYqiae I see you posting some variation of this in every thread. Are you ok? Did something happen to you mentally?

Expect a larger and more aggressive push for this especially after winter and the holidays.

Tommy may have meant just the main hubs, but every manager sycophant in every location, large or small, is going to shame employees to return to the office, even where office space has been downsized and there is no room for everyone anymore. And if you dare to question it, you move to the top of the next layoff list.

Maybe claims would start returning calls and working if forced back into an office.

Which offices are the main hubs?

Don't worry yourselves. Wilson just said those offices that are back open should have their people return to office. Those are primarily just the main hubs which are few and far between. Chances of you being impacted by this is less than your chances of actually being laid off in the next 6-12 months.

On the East Coast a lot of the claims and legal offfices closed to save lease money and merged with other offices. There’s not enough room for everybody anymore.

Our leader today said they expect most in Hudson to be back in the office unless the position was already home based prior to the pandemic. He said he heard this even before today's Connections conference.

I wonder what they will do with those of us they forced to take other positions and no work in the same state as our coworkers/team. There is no way I would move for this company.

Start with all high paid leaders and OFFICERS. They should absolutely be in offices even if “remote” in office. The exceptions they’ve made for officers is not right.

My god. Working from home is the only thing this pit of misery has going for it. If I have to go to an office I’m 100% done. It’s literally the only thing that keeps me here

Within two years almost everyone at every company will be back in an office. All it will take is a few major corporations to put foot down and it will snowball from there

It’s a slow walk on the company’s part to make this happen as a very high percentage of the employees prefer work from home. It may come to go back or get laid off. Of course, management will deny and deflect that I don’t believe a word they say. They haven’t earned trust.
