Thread regarding VMware layoffs

CB layoffs when?

Admin and GTM is very likely gone, but will any of R&D survive? Rumor of 2 death waves coming, as early as next week--any idea who is first to go? Wondering how deep R&D cuts will be the first go around.

You are exactly right. Please look behind your curtain. What bother with posting.

It's happening right now. People are getting laid off.

I'm not in authority but have had a chance to look behind the curtain. None of the results here are true. It's all speculation. Speculation that may look obvious and correct if you look at it plainly. And speculation that follows what Broadcom typically does. Still speculation.

If you are making critical life decisions around the idea that CB is being merged into Symantec, ki-ling Partners, and laying off critical staff then you should hold off making those life decisions.

Majority of people I know got layed off effective today or with a 3 month transition period followed by layoff. Only a couple offers of full time employment. Already having cases of customers being left without any support and no one knows who is even left to cover down. This is looking to be Symantec all over again.

Letters have started to go out in some regions. If the numbers hold true across all regions, its going to be brutal.

This is a fact. The Carbon Black technology will transfer to the Symantec BU. Buyer turned down the offer to acquire it. It will happen in March or shortly after.

They will try and retain as much R&D as possible to su-k long hours and knowledge transfer from you until they decide if you’re really worth keeping. They’ll keep a light presence of GTM, sales and marketing folks as transitional to try and retain as many target customers as possible, and to manage Partners and messaging until May when they can announce the end of all CB Partnerships to coincide with Partner Connect’s death.
So that means the first wave would be all the “expendable” admin, GTM, sales, legal and Ops staff. I would guess a big wave at first followed by a second wave in May.

Why guess? None of the guesses over the past six months were true. People on here and Blind had tunnel vision in hearing from others how their team was so secure. They were confident enough to not prepare for a layoff, and were then laid off.

Anyone can go at any time. Prepare for the worst and wait for any news.
