The number of lies in that announcement is astonishing.

FYI - Symantec Business Unit is facing serious challenges. It is losing customers and no longer recognized as a serious security vendors.

You assume that just because someone says they work for CB here they actually do?

This is a public website that allows anyone to post. Trolls have been trolling since day one.

I'm not in authority but have had a chance to look behind the curtain. None of the results here are true. It's all speculation. Speculation that may look obvious and correct if you look at it plainly. And speculation that follows what Broadcom typically does. Still speculation.

If you are making critical life decisions around the idea that CB is being merged into Symantec, ki-ling Partners, and laying off critical staff then you should hold off making those life decisions.

Hock made it clear that Broadcom is a technology company

No, he has openly said many times that BC is focused on private equity and not necessarily the technology

another round is coming

That's a given. Just like with VMware they do it in geographical waves. US, India, and other countries this week. EMEA in a few weeks.

Ironically, they fired many key tech people, so there goes that theory.

I think Symantec only wants a very narrow band of tech where they are weak like EDR. The rest… they simply want the customers not the tech or engineers.

"I fear EUC will suffer the same fate in the tech economy."

EUC is now the one remaining VMW leftover asset without a home. It's a high risk for any PE owner to take on the tough task of right-sizing them for the declining EUC market.

Put on your ruthless leader hat for a minute, what would you do with a technology you now own but can’t make enough money from selling to look smart?

If you are an engineer needed for knowledge transfer or to assist in merging CB tech to existing BC products- keep them.

If you play in integral role in keeping A list customers happy from a technical perspective- keep them.

If you are needed for operational aspects- transition them.

Everyone else is cost that gets cut. That means entire teams and departments must be wiped away. No communication is needed for partners or average customers, they are not part of our focus going forward.

This is the way.

That’s cute to still think a PE is going to swoop in and save EUC. I remember when CB thought the same things, it was down to 2 suitors etc. CB literally met with a buyer the day before the decision was made to burn it to the ground.

If someone was offering the value that Hock wanted, the deal would be done. It’s been months.

At the end of the day, Hock made it clear that Broadcom is a technology company, and if he’s getting offered just the value of the IP, he’s just going to keep the IP and find a way to make money with it using what he already has. There’s no consideration to the business or roadmap or employees etc.

Like with CB, he’d rather keep the tech, see if he can enhance Symantec and keep the top CB customers paying for as long as possible while he guts anything costing him money.

I fear EUC will suffer the same fate in the tech economy.

"Pretty sure VMware wiped us out long before this acquisition. Everyone accuse BC of lack of innovation, but CB hans't moved on either."

Yes, it's accurate to say that the wipeout began when Pat bought the thing. Nobody could overpay and then sc--w up an acquisition quite like that guy.

Those that survived are being hit with draconian RTO mandates... in several cases being told to report to an office that is further away than a closer office.

Even some hired years ago by CB (before VMW) as remote are being forced to come in.

My rumor source (who was spot on about layoffs starting yesterday) is saying another round is coming (no firm time frame but (s)he is saying March/April.)

Good luck!

Almost 70% wiped off. Luckily amongst the 30% who survived but mostly likely will be on the list since confirmed multiple layoff rounds! Well played BRCM. Slow death CB!

EUC next?

No EUC is being divested within the next couple of weeks to a PE.

About 90 percent of my team, myself included, received either immediate layoff notice or transition notice today. Wasn't an immediate cut of access so saw a lot of people talking in Slack about getting termed. Unsure of percentages in other areas but it seems pretty deep.

I'm sure it was a loss Leader.

It wasn't, but ok...

Thoughts are with friends and colleagues at CB. Heck, they're much better off now vs being in this he-l-hole that BC.

That product needed to go a long time ago, I'm sure it was a loss Leader. However many sales leaders paid 200k+ with a revenue of diddly squat. It seemed like an army trying to flog that thing to no avail.

Hope everyone finds a new home.
