Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Soon associates won’t be required to open credit

Belk’s days of hounding associates to open credit cards may soon be over, multiple customers are saying they were duped into opening a card or were issued a MasterCard without their knowledge or consent. If customers peruse legal action, then it could be ruled that Belk can longer require associates or store level management to open, solicit , or encourage customers to open credit on behalf of the customer. Belk corporate is in panic mode trying to assess how they are going to survive without churning out credit cards on a daily basis.

If belk suddenly says no opening a MasterCard if the person has a store card or Vice versa, something major is going on, it smells like they are getting ready for liquidation or something else major. This does not seem right.

It is already changing in my store, We were told at a morning meeting that we are not supposed to open duplicate credit cards for people which most of us did not do anyways. But the worst offender that previously bragged about it on a daily basis lied through his teeth. The worst part it is every member of management was aware of it and one comment was at least we are getting them. That's the behavior belk has always fostered. Now it is blowing up in their faces.

Tell them the future Belk customers that you don’t have to spend money and get 29 % APR includes bogus charge on your Belk dirty filthy credit card. Tell them don’t worry the truth is Mexico or Sycamore Partners will pay for it? Learn it from the best stable genius tycoon with using leverage debts or other silly people to secure lovely and fake life styles of the rich and con artists as Belk su-kers are born everyday! Don’t you love it!

Belk suddenly makes it more difficult for store associates to open credit. Huge red flag something is wrong. The more credit people have the more they spend. It does not make sense

1kjg, Of course you can sue Belk, if you want it so much, but you won’t win. There’s huge difference between immoral practices and legal responsibilities. You are missing this point. Research instead of bursting into rudeness and labelling your opponent.

@iou
i have to agree with the previous post, some elderly people can remember certain things and other things they forget. Florida and most other states have laws about misleading or taking advantage of the elderly for financial gain, so to be fair, your argument is very weak, not the previous poster. So just because someone can remember their social or drive to a belk store does not mean they are fully aware of what they are doing. lots of people with early dementia still drive, especially in Florida where I live, you see it every day, so I think you not fully understanding what you are typing and you don't want associates to protest about not wanting to open charge cards. Are you a shill? It sure sounds like it.

1mlo, I understand you really really hope. But let’s just be real. People with dementia probably don’t remember their social security number to enter for the application. If they know all information the need to enter, then their brain isn’t too bad to reject a deal they don’t want. So “dementia” argument is weak. Also they should not be driving to places themselves, if they do, it means nobody’s there for them, so what a chance there’s somebody to file a complaint on their behalf? Also, has to be proven that it’s the company’s implementing dishonest practices, not individual employees ( who will be terminated as soon as company will be accused of allowing it). Nothing personal, just a reality.

to the person saying belk can’t be sued because the customer presses the ‘’ green “ button to open the new card, that is 100% not true. you can be sued for deceptive practices, and if the customer is elderly, has dementia or cognitive issues, you can be sued for taking advantage of them. As most of you know Belk caters to many senior customers and many of them are confused and don’t know exactly what is happening, I would seriously warm against opening credit for someone who is 85 years old with possible dementia. It’s sad Belk forces its associates to be so heartless.

look at what happen to bank of america, wells fargo, ect....they paid $250 million fines for misleading customers. Same thing could happen to Belk and Synchrony. Just saying.... Don't act like you are some legal scholar, when you know your some lame belk shill.

So we was told today that if a customer has a Belk card if they open another one we will not get credit for it or the $3 spiff. They would also not get the 20% off for new card. So they are wanting to only target new Belk customers to open a card!!!!

We have no way of knowing if they will be approved for a Master Card. I always let my customers know it could be a MC.

Customers are giving their consent by pressing green button at beginning of application. There is no ground for a lawsuit.
