Thread regarding UKG / Ultimate Kronos Group / Ultimate Software Group Inc. layoffs

Layoffs update

What do we know so far? It’s all over the place, and I can’t even begin to try to figure out how many of us and where are being affected.

For the 60 days, was that in addition to your severance? So if you got 6 weeks severance, you really are getting 3.5 months of pay? Asking for future layoffs, as I am sure they'll be coming. This is the 5th or 6th one in 3 years :/

I think it’s H & F requiring these changes preparing to take UKG public. Legacy Kronos teams say Aaron didn’t lay people off - they cut back and gave up Bonus. The same was for Legacy Ultimate - Scott never laid off family - we tightened our belt. He always said he learned from his Dad to take care of his people like family and they would take care of the company and customers.

Really what has happened to this company. I worked for Kronos for several years, left prior to the merger, and re-joined after the merger. I was shocked by how much different it was. All of the heart/soul of Kronos that made it one of my favorite jobs ever was gone. Replaced by grinding the absolute F*** out of employees with very little investment in tools/training to make their lives easier. I left again after about a year.

For those who got laid off, I realize it doesn't seem like it now, but there is a good chance you will be better off in the long run.

For the record, this is not Kronos ruining Ultimate since the merger. Kronos was a great company with a lot of caring management that was empowered to make decisions, taking into consideration the impact on their people. If you were a great employee, it mattered, and they wanted to keep you and accommodate you. Everything changed for all of us from both legacy companies after the merger. It has been a downhill roll. The good managers that remained were stripped of their authority to do anything but walk the line put before them. It has become very clear that the top calls the shots, often without even gathering info from below on what the impact will be, and the bottom line is the only focus. Yes, it is a for profit company, but so were the legacy companies. The heart is what made those companies special. The heart is gone. To everyone who lost their jobs, think about how it has felt to work there lately. This will most likely end up being a blessing in disguise. There are still places to work that don't keep their people in chaos and misery.

be careful with things you post on reddit, as it’s not entirely anonymous. for example, all your contributions on all subreddits are visible on your profile page, so something written in one of your previous posts might trace back to you, someone can recognize your writing style…

Ther is a saying that goes.... Therebare no bad emoloyees..... Pnly bad leaders. Prior to UKG, if you went to any of their buildings at 8, 9 or 10 pm at night, you could bet the house that there were people busting their assess because teams worked until the job was done. There was pride in the delivery of a project or product. Now a days for the past 4 years, if you leave the office at 6, your car might be the only one in the parking lot. This passion and dedication was in Weston prior to UKG. The common denominator.... K. They should take a good look in the mirror. All they did was make it worst for the people there now. More work less pay.. complain and you are out.

My fiance of 18 years was sickened by the email whichbshe received this morning. Legacy U went from one of thebtop IT and HR firms in the US to a viral shi@ show. Once again, capitalism wrecks what was once the pinnacle of software making and has turned it into an outsourcing machine sending jobs overseas because the milliins that were made were not enough. I was part of a layoff years ago and someone had the decency to speak to me face to face but an email amd a fedex lable? They dont even have the ba--s to tell you the bad news to your face. The movie Up In The Air is an example of where all of this was going. Once this merger happened, Ultimate lost all of its soul and was being replaced my people who only barked orders with no experience on what clients needed, direction and needs and onky meassured peooples performances by matrix without actual goals. Product owners were meassured by the amount of stories written on a board intead of what was being produced. They used no methodoligies for software development and instead "we make it up as we go along". No roadmaps, no visions. Directors and VPs with no people experience or lack of any software or industry experience utilizing well paid and we educated employees as secretaries because they are too bothered to attend meetings and when they do, they do not payvattentiin nor do they go over meeting recaps. Lately Directors and VPs depend on their employees emails and copy and paste reponses from their actual employees with no input whatsoever. And now there is Open AI. These overpaid goons now utilize AI to respond to basic emails. Its easy, take anything thatvthey write and paste it into google. But, i guess its easier to drive the name of a company into the gutter and lay off great people and call it restructuring. Its thebsame pig with a different shade of lipstick. Its all about how much money the can squeeze out of an organization.

well, its apparent that ever since "that region" tookover our jobs, the level of knowledge and support has gone downhill. more issues, more outage, and things that were a 20 minutes fix turns out to be hours of sh-t show.

regardless, the top dog still wants to shift there. aren't we making a profit? why such drastic cost-cutting?

So the MULTI MILLION Dollar Company named UKG formerly Kronos has decided to let a bunch of us go, out of the blue, no warning or anything, the worst part is they were not fair with this severance package they shoved down our throat …. I gave them 5 1/2 years and they toss 11 weeks at me, when they gave the girl next to me 6 weeks pay and she’s been here 1 1/2 years, tell me if that makes sense I’m definitely calling a lawyer on Monday this is ridiculous

In his $5 million Massachusetts home, Chris Todd laid back and grinned, appreciating all the work he had done to appease stakeholders and earn his CEO package at a time when 14% of workers were laid off.

I believe they complied with the WARN act by putting you on full paid vacation for 60 days prior to the official termination. I was in this round and I'm getting calls from competitors asking to join their team. I'll take 60 days of double income.

Just a heads up, UKG owns the Great Place to Work certification so they’re just going to keep giving it to themselves year after year. It’s like being a dictator and giving yourself a gold medal and who’s going to stop you.

By Federal Law if more than 100 employees are terminated in a company. A company is force to give them 2 months of pay, and they should continue working, such if the company deem it necessary. Just so you don’t signed papers neglecting the right to legally complain or take actions against this company.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) requires employers with 100 or more full-time employees to provide at least 60 days' written notice of a mass layoff that affects 50 or more employees at a single site. The notice must be given before the closure of a facility or building, or before a mass layoff. The 60-day notice gives employees time to look for other jobs.

The issue of redundancy is BS. Despite having the majority of customers in the US, UKG has put pressure on its North American workforce by laying off many employees and relying on workers in Noida, India. They are also planning to expand in India and while seeking a government contract in the US. This seems to be a disproportionate and unfair business practice, and I hope the new president and government will address this issue starting in January 2025.

I won't be surprised if some offices get closed in next a few months, which they call "real estate consolidation" in the meetings today.

All layoffs like this are going to filter down from the top. This is clearly a for profit company. As soon as the profit centers miss goals, budgets have to realign otherwise the company can't pay everyone. It's going to especially hit cost centers.

The have to plot expected revenue over some period of time and pick a number like 14%, as a reduction in force. Layers of leaders start distributing some portion to the various parts of the company. At some point any given manager is given their number and has to choose a # of people or $ of compensation to cut.

It looks like chaos and I doubt there's a single through-line to connect each affected person. I don't think chalking it up to random is accurate. I imagine it was 16,000 choices that had to be made, none of which were done carelessly.

UKG is probably going to be stumbling from an impact like this. Hopefully sales expectations move to a more realistic level. Don't let your managers set you up for failure by aiming for the stars all the time.

The organizational email was sent out by Chris Todd, while he has his out of office message on. For those that were laid off, there was a generic meeting with 2 people from HR for 10-15 min. The rest of the call was silence for the most part, 6 questions in the Q&A, and the chat was disabled.

to whoever said that the reality is that many positions were redundant, several people on one team were let go, and that team needs more people, not less. They have been drowning in work.

For everyone bashing UKG and trying to “take down” the company: there are still 16,000 people who work for UKG whose families depend on their income. It’s unfortunate for those impacted and I know misery loves company but please don’t try to harm others. The reality is many jobs were redundant and UKG carried that fat for quite a while. It’s corporate America and this happens.

Can anyone find a reason for the methods they chose? We had some great people let go and terrible people still here. It makes no sense to me and seems completely random.

A manager of 30 years was let go, a ton of co-workers who were really good at their jobs just dropped, seemingly randomly.

They don't care about us at all. I am still here, but I am not sure for how long...

"Our purpose is 86% people, the other 14% is money" PE company is just cutting cost no matter the consequences.

They need to change the slogan, "Our purpose is people", because that is so far from the truth. They do not consider people in any decisions any more. They do not even consider what the impact internally will be. The place is a mess, and this will make it worse. Way to ruin what used to be 2 great companies.

The solution rather than let ppl go is to replace the top leaders. Chris and Hugo Sarrazin are sinking this company to a deep sea.
Change of direction is done on a weekly basis, attrition is no longer an issue, is reality to all employees. Too bad for those who lost their jobs today
