Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Dang! It can't be that bad here

There has to be some goods things about working at this company? I think someone mentioned free food at the office, that's a good thing.

Free food? When the heck did THAT start? I got riffed several years ago, and there was no free food.

I used to say that.

Until it got to be THAT bad: managers YELLING at employees on non-recorded Teams meetings, HR supporting abusive leadership behavior, metrics that can NEVER be met by a human being, threats for write ups if you are ONE MINUTE LATE because Workday sign on is slow, a halt on any time off for Mondays or Fridays, team shrinking by 1/2 but still the same work and a hiring freeze.

No free food over here, unless you count the daily fe--s one must ingest to avoid termination. Is THAT the food you were looking for?

Would you rather have free food or more pay? Those 1-2% raises went right towards commuting

@2gmx+1u1dDmOQ - just TWO people? Slacker, it should be ten people.🫤

Dude, the free food is gone... we must "OPTIMIZE" ... and we can live in fear of a RIF every non payday Thursday! What's not to like about that? And for all us survivors out there we get the special prize of the work of two people! and a 2% raise... lucky us!

Well when you think every non-paycheck Thursday could be the day you get RIF'd, and the. you don't, well there is a brief moment of relief. And then you appreciate that sweet paycheck Friday the next week. So two good things right there. And then the sweating and nervous tics start all over again.

Regardless of why they're doing it it's sc-mmy af, I understand why some people take food home when the pay isnt enough to afford sh-t. What a joke

It’s official. Email just went out today that starting early September, they’ll give employees a few cents of the regular price of food stuff and snacks, and in January it just a vendor like any other and charge what the market will bare. Water is still free!
Coincidentally, the stock price popped $3 this afternoon as well.
I just get the warm fuzzies when I say “Elevance” out loud.

Probably use is part of the rationale. I’ve seen associates filling a backpack with what for me would be food for a week. Still no excuse for massive layoffs.

This has to be someone from leadership trying to be funny. Or else someone is drinking their Kool-Aid. Probably the decision maker.

Oh you mean the free food that I got food poisoning on? When I started it was an awesome place to work, however Gail is by far the most incompetent CEO we've ever had. Unless driving the company into the ground and making working here a punitive micromanaged hellscape is the goal? Then objective achieved.

The free food is being phased out by Jan 2025. You already knew this was coming. Cuts everywhere.

I love getting 2% raises (sarcasm). I had high hopes when I started working here and over the years I’ve come to realize that this is one of the worst companies I’ve ever worked for. I’m working late nights and now I’m getting harassed to volunteer more, you must be joking.

Enjoy the free food while it last. Several offices are switching away from it or only subsidizing some of it going forward.
