Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Any directors or above hearing any plans for any layoffs, voluntary or involuntary, to start 2022??

Startin a new budget year, saw lots of notices in Dec 2021 for people retiring. There is expected budget pressures to reduce costs and headcount is an easy and quick one. Has planning for a layoff begun?

Sales teams aren’t selling as was expected and I’ve heard that they’re reaching out to technicians for assistance is getting their foot in the door for a face-to-face with potential customers. Not a good sign!

Bargained ranks will get big cuts when the vax deadline comes relieving a lot of budget pressure on expense. If it hits the techs there will be an improvement in productivity per person as they have little to do now and nothing on the forecast

Techs gonna get mo money no matter what, cause you fool managers can’t do work. Y’all can head to the door soon or later son. We won’t know your stupid a-s name no more.

I believe you are correct about this continuous battle cry that it will get busy very soon! The techs have been hearing for 2 and a half years now that it will be getting very busy even going so far as to hiring and replacing techs that have left for one reason or another. To date, the work has come to a screeching halt and no sign of more work to come. Will this mean pending layoffs or will T continue to subsidize technicians sitting around with nothing to do? Perhaps, we’ll learn this in the 1st Qtr., 22!

@npb: ahh the good ole’ tried & true biz serv promise:. “We got a lot of work coming down the pipe, really, we do. Trust me. It’s almost here. I swear. It will be here soon , & it’ll be a lot.. just as soon as it gets here, I swear..” that department has managed to smoke & mirror its headcount for years now.

It is att there will always be forced layoffs but always called something else from the liars.

They've found that forcing benefit cuts for those still with benefits who don't quit is much cheaper than paying severance, so I would expect to see more such targeting of older, less naive employees with loss of promised benefits, rather than more expensive layoffs.

The beatings will continue, until morale improves.

My AVP told me we made budget in 2021 but 2022 will be a different story and to prepare by ranking people. Having my L2 mgmt working on something to happen once we have the final 2021 retirement numbers. Hiring in some areas DOES NOT mean we won't reduce elsewhere in the org as they hire cheaper and younger help

Stank prefers to make you miserable and quit. They don’t want to spend money on packages.

I think it’s funny that you think we are so well organized that any Directors would know at this point. They might know a week or less before anyone else. That’s it. That said, Mobility is actively hiring to try and make up for headcount lost to retirement, and there is a ton of work in front of us.

No cuts on the Business services side where T is actually hiring more personnel for the expected influx of sales orders to be installed and maintained.

Yes. It will depend on the final headcount reduction from folks retiring, but we are expecting cuts this year.

Do you actually expect any Directors or Above to reply to this? They will not. And if anyone claims to be such, they are fakers.

In my org, they are actually hiring newbies in 2021 to replace those MR75 that the Stink S C R E W E D over.

Sure the reign of T E R R O R of the Stink will continue at Toxic T until he gets his Golden parachute and there is no more $ that he can R A P E from T.

John Stephens (former CFO) retained and offered a $500k bonus if he can reduce costs. Headcount/salary and benefits have most immediate impact. Hang on to your hats

Once the retirement (really a politically correct name for the recent surplus/layoff) numbers are finalized, the level of cuts moving forward will be determined. More to come!
