Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

So for those who survived October RIFs and January RIFs, what are we hearing now. I’ve heard about continued reorgs all year, but nothing firm.

Seems like October and January is a common theme.

Keep the staff on edge so they either are very productive or just do not try hard if they think they are getting laid off.

You can see the impact at google. Destroy company morale and see what you get.

The best part of being laid off is not having to be around all the toxic people.

What has happen to all the toxic people they added to make a change?

They got rid of them too.

Ironic.

Most people use supplemental unemployment and severance interchangebly The supplemental unemployment is the severance program.

@2eoq+1qIEuQKp Congrats that you got severance instead of supplemental unemployment. Read the room. Many of your ex-colleagues got supplemental unemployment or nothing at all. You’re in the minority and you’re putting salt in the wound.

To@2eoq+1qIEuQKp 60k maybe you were trying to make a point on how much is being being paid out in severance! ? But a little compassion goes a long way . Ge-z.

I VOLUNTEER! This place is a toxic disaster. Plus ol' girl Gail keeps sending emails out about AI. A person would have to be psychotic to actually want to stay with this org.

More will layoffs will come, during today’s Town Hall pretty much senior leadership bragged about our earnings and how we will be adding Gen AI, so looks like more will be loosing their jobs now thanks to AI.

Hold on to your horses ! Be prepared for these severance packages to come to a minimum or halt with this new guy coming. job reclassifications will become popular, also ' 'getting' people where they can that are non compliant in anyway will eliminate the need to pay severance. Not to mention people just downright getting fed up and leaving, Don't think waiting around for a layoff or a Rif or what you want to call it will be your out. E- health is paying big bucks on these severance packages, although temporary for each person it's still costly and administrative expense.

There are RIFs basically every month in this company (there's a reason the last Thursday of the month is known as RIF Day); it's just that most of them are small, isolated to specific departments/organizations, and therefore don't hit everyone's radar. For instance, there was a one in late 2022 that no one heard about because it was in one of the acquired companies; they laid off 50% of one department, along with a smattering of other departments. For that particular org, it was a huge RIF relative to their size, and it was the the third that year that I know of (in said org). They only hit this site when they impact the umbrella company.

I think it's fair to assume the bloodbath will continue through Q1 and then ongoing throughout the year. I especially anticipate reorgs in Digital after the rat joins.

This company will not survive without reorgs, it’s just their way of life and built into their culture. So just have to live with it or go look for employment somewhere else if job stability is what you are looking for.

Bold of you to assume that January RIFs are complete. I'm still not sure if more aren't coming on the 25th. Though, I've heard confirmation about California 87 already being informed a few weeks ago. Were the previous RIFS all at once or did they have multiple RIF dates those months?

This place is just one continuous reorg. There is almost never a year that goes by where there isn’t one. It’s been especially bad lately.
