Thread regarding Blackbaud Inc. layoffs

Blackbaud’s leadership has failed plainly and repeatedly

Years of poor mergers, awful stock performance, and a massive data breach have left the company weaker, less trusted, and increasingly irrelevant. Instead of owning these failures and investing in real product improvement, leadership has done almost the opposite.

The products have stagnated. Customers know it. That’s why they’re leaving. And rather than fixing what’s broken, leadership’s answer has been blunt-force cost cutting and pushing a ~30% SPI increase onto customers who already don’t see the value. It’s not strategy — it’s desperation.

While customers churn and employees are asked to do more with less, Mike and the executive team have quietly extracted hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation from the company. That money didn’t go into innovation, security, or customer success. It went into executive pockets.

The most insulting part is the attitude. When concerns are raised, the response isn’t accountability or respect its dismissal, contempt, and sometimes outright laughter. Leadership hits paydirt while employees hit the breadline, and we’re told this is “good for the business.”

It isn’t. It’s short-term financial engineering at the expense of long-term trust.

Shame on the leadership team for hollowing out a company that once mattered. And shame on anyone still carrying water for decisions that have clearly failed customers, employees, and shareholders alike.

This didn’t have to be the outcome. It was a choice.

Well said, @ad+1keshgf86.

The data breach they had several years back was something that they had been warned for several years was coming and the ELT choose to ignore it. The company is trying to shift its work to India to cut costs so that basically the ELT can keep their nice salaries. Anyone working there that thinks they are safe is thinking VERY wrong.

I stand corrected. I should have looked at it. It was Blackrock that has dumped stock. But Clearlake hasn’t done anything in 8 quarters. Sorry for the wrong info, but still our investor activity is not a good sign.

@2eh as for Clear Lake, an investor report on a stock site said they’ve reduced their share count by nearly 30% or something like that. They were in striking distance for a buyout but now they barely hold 25% of shares. So Clear Lake withdrawal is clearly a sign we are failing in the market.

I agree BB stock is performing very poorly nor am I pleased with the company's current leadership. However, let's keep the facts straight . According to chatgpt, clear lake is not dumping their shares.
"As of March 2026, Clearlake Capital is not selling its Blackbaud (BLKB) stock; rather, it remains the company's largest shareholder with an increased stake. "

Ownership Increase: Clearlake has grown its ownership to approximately 21.23% (9.75 million shares) as of early 2026.
While other institutional investors like Greenhouse Funds have recently sold their entire positions in Blackbaud, Clearlake's holding has remained firm and even expanded.

@29g "Clearlake is officially selling most of our stock". Source?

Stock officially down to barely over $39! We’re nosediving in the red while other companies the ELT always compares us to are in the green. So what is the cause? They can only blame the market for so much. At some point the leadership has to take the blame. But we all know the BB leadership will never do that. We were so close to being bought! Those days are gone as Clearlake is officially selling most of our stock. Would have been a great day if they had succeeded. But this ELT and BOD know the cash cow they got for themselves. Don’t you worry though because they’ll be the first to jump ship when we’ve finally taken on too much water!

Eating the cow instead of just drinking the milk. Let’s see how long it take to finish them off. Get out if you can.
