BOD in Ireland… Leader meeting tomorrow.. Is May 8th D day?

Pay cuts and layoff same time? May 8,2023

$150M set aside for RIF compensation is about 7000 people if the ratio is the similar to the one last November.

Thoughts?

Union organizers are parading in front of NRM almost daily. Was out for a walk one day and asked one of them if they were aware there were deep cuts coming. Of course the dude spun it like, "there is never a better time to organize, we can get them a better exit package." Ahh...OK, good luck with that.

“all an attempt to destabilise union recognition”
What self important nonsense. RIFs are coming because of mismanagement as well as macroeconomic conditions. Most of the pro union whiners won’t even volunteer for redundancy from the company they hate….. simply because they know they wouldn’t get a better job elsewhere.
Cloud cuckoo ‘demanding’ more bonuses and holidays….

You are probably going to find out how ruthless corporations are when their slaves try to free themselves. Good luck though.

@5ffw+1mkn8Ase I think a lot of people in Seagate Derry have the same thoughts as yourself. We got pitiful payrises and profit shares that wouldn't pay a weeks bills whilst those at the top were buying new top of the range cars and holiday homes with their bonuses. If corporate did a deep dive investigation into Seagate Derry finances over the years I think they'd find plenty of discrepancies. We need the union in so they can go through everything and see what was taken from us,what was held back from us and fight for it back. The holiday allocation in Seagate Derry is a disgrace. Get the union in to fight for more holidays.

Does anyone else feel this is all deliberate to try and destabilise union recognition? Maybe those at the top will be found to have been feathering their own nests for yrs and panic has set in? We have been shafted more than 50% of the yrs its been in derry in regards to pay and profit share and if a Union rights this wrong every last person in the factory should join up.

@2dfr+1mkn8Ase:Your comment doesnt really make much sense "dont be fooled" ,dont be fooled by what? There are more operators that are union members than there is that are not union members. They joined a union so that there is somebody to fight for fair payrises, fair bonuses and to be treated like human beings not pieces of dirt. What somebody's attendance has got to do with a workplace being unionised is a mystery to me.

How come it's the biggest malingerers and those with a poor attendance record that are pushing the hardest for a union? Don't be fooled.

Just shut the place.Put it out if it's misery and put the employees out of their misery.Under paid and under appreciated staff are sick of the place and sick of the management. Why have some managers become nice all of a sudden? What's made them change their behaviour? Start the layoffs so we can all get a fresh start.

Arcade City seems to think its the unions fault that STST is in the state that it's in.We've had poor pay rises and profit shares for years because we had nobody to fight our corner.Maybe now we'll have someone to fight for us for better wages and bonuses while people like Arcade City will be at the feet of the bourgeois begging for crumbs and tugging on their fo-e lock.

Replying to "Arcade city". Not sure how you work out that a union has anything to do with whats happening here. The union didn't decide to put the company into 6 billion dollar debt so they could pay above the norm dividends to shareholders, whilst telling their employees there was nothing for them. Union hasn't handed out paltry pay rises, with no right to question or discuss. Do you really think that when this crisis is over ,that same board of directors are going to treat us any differently ? So quit your union bashing, lie down and wait for whatever crumbs come your way.

Lol says the keyboard warrior posting anonymously, and I assume talking about me judging by the "Arcade City" dig at the end. Be careful because if I find out who you are, a wee trip to HR could be on the cards.

@smm+1mkn8Ase: How do you know that it was booked and scheduled over a year ago? How would you know that?

This is the quarterly BOD meeting that was scheduled and booked over a year ago. Routine.

Demand is so low could stop for a production for a month. Would be doing Seagate a favor, use up inventory, save money on wages.

@tdh+1mkn8Ase: What have you got against a union? People pay union fees for their own protection and solid advice. As for the person who has the WhatsApp group and Facebook page ,you seem to have something personal against this person. Are they more popular than you? More friends than you? I don't understand how you would be so against a union.Unless you are management or think that you are management.

@tdh+1mkn8Ase..When there is redundancies in any workplace that is unionised the union fought for a better redundancy package.Im guessing you are one of those halfwits that thinks it's all the unions fault for layoffs.

*Unite Legal Dept

PLEASE SHARE
Everyone taking an 8% paycut but pay the union so u lose more money just like everyone else.

Is there free food this time. This has been a dead duck from the get go and I told fellow operators to stay away from the id--t who's been pushing it with his little what's app group and fake Facebook pages. Ask yourself if he really believed in what he was doing would be be hiding. Nothing is Gona change our situation unless orders come in other wise eventually we are all out a job wake up ffs. Look at his followers all the same sheep everyday. Nobody with sense. Do your own due diligence.
