Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Massive layoffs incoming! Customer care, store leadership, facilities, no one is safe.

Big changes are coming, be positive, be aware and always look out for yourself. I’m sorry to anyone who gets let go. Trust me, it pains people like me who know prior and can’t formally let people know other than on this page.

No impact to frontline position. If there was, you’d be complaining about that too.

Can anyone tell us if any front line care employees will be making these lists? I am hoping so as I am sick of taking these damn calls and working like a slave for this company for crumbs of pay!

Just think of how much money they'd save by simply trimming HR down to almost nothing.

Remember all the T-Mobile execs had 3 year retainers to stay on as a part of the merger with Sprint to get extra $$$. So, all the TMO execs/VPs/Directors in Technology used this as an excuse to pull their golden parachute and execute on leaving per the merger deal. Also, they all "announced" their retirement when the stock was at $150 per share. I'm sure they dumped a large number of their RSU's when they announced "retirement."

Totally with you! I've heard the higher-ups already know the deal with who's in and who's out. And what's with all these tech directors suddenly "retiring" in August and September? Kinda suspicious!! I mean, we can all read between the lines! I’m ready to receive my package and start my holidays early…

I've got a number of director friends in Technology HQ. They tell me lists are put together. Just waiting on an opportune time.

The large Technology layoffs in 2022 came in late August. I'd suggest the same timing this year

I am surprised that for other folks are getting layoff rumors from their higher-up. In the HQ technology org, even my manager and senior manager have no clue what is going on in last year layoff and recent reorg until it happened. Our directors/VP just keep mum about everything.

Had a chat with my higher-up boss last week. She mentioned that soon, we'll report directly to her since my current boss's role might be going away. Crazy thing? My boss doesn't even know. I've got mixed feelings because, honestly, she hasn't been the best boss in my two decades of work. It's tough to see her go through this, but it might be good for our team. Oh, and layoffs are coming in September

Jon Freier and Dara Sadri are nightmarish. If you are in other portions of the company, you have no idea how good you have it. The complete infrastructure around Freier’s whole “those who support those who support our customers” is a farce, they care zero percent about fixing issues that arose ONLY when Jon moved to the Frankenstein of “Consumer Group”.

“Is there any leader that any of you like? Asking for a friend.”

Oswaldik, Neville, Saw, Cano to name a few.

But, you do have to admit the quality of leadership has deteriorated in the 3+ years since the merger.

We’re all stakeholders and shareholders. It’s okay to be critical.

Are these rumors? I am currently working at my desk and driving the user impacting issue.

In my last to 1:1s my direct manager kept mentioning they could see me "doing great things outside this org or even at another company" I think they're trying to tell me something.
That and my skip-level telling us that shake ups are happening this time top-down (instead of up) makes me think lots of ICs and managers will go.

We have way too many managers IMO as is and most don't do a damn thing

“The entire SLT needs a total refresh. Just horrible.“

They pretty much already did. Ulf, Saw, Nestor, and all these other d-mb d-mbs now at the helm doing the same thing that brought sprint down. What really needs to happen is Sievert needs the axe, but Wall Street loves him cuz stock price is high. This layoffs will reduce OPEX and fuel 2 fires 1) more sievert love from the street, and 2) the death spiral all us workers see except the Sr leaders.

In time, T-Mobile will fall

Callie is one of the worst. If you like her it’s probably because you haven’t actually worked with her.

“Hoping RDM’s and their Sr Managers get let go. Useless do nothings.”

Fire the last remaining Metro dealer field team? You sure about that? The channel has imploded since they started gutting the legacy Metro folks in 2020 thinking that T-Mobile knew how to operate it, it’s in the worst shape it’s ever been.

Re: Fire Jon Freier.

The entire SLT needs a total refresh. Just horrible. Company has really lost it's way since JL left and even more so now as others are leaving. MS is the most awkward non visionary CEO ever seen.

Aside from the legacy Sprint facilities that everyone has known since the merger started were going away, you've got bupkis

It’s so many “leaders” that are ineffective and with many HR complaints. They need to look at these directors first. One in particular, Winston in Chicago, just a terrible human who manipulates those around him. That’s seems standard with this company tho.
