Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Can we stop the hate please?

There is so much racism, hate and bigotry here. Can we stop this?

This forum used to be a source of (relevant) rumors, information and mutual support. It was great. Let us go back to this. Do not let trolls and id--ts ruin it.

Ignore the trolls and downvote. They feed on the hate as they are already miserable themselves.

A significant portion of this hate is being perpetuated by Donald Trump, who has normalizing racism and making it mainstream. If your president is actively calling for less immigrants from brown countries and more from white countries, you know closet racist are going to come out in the open!

People like to blame others for their own failures. The hate, etc, is everywhere... not just here.

@n8 there are a great many people that simply try to label others with the simplest labels to try and ostracize them.

Most people are lazy thinkers whose philosophy is a random mishmash of things they've picked up from their culture and whatever group they are desperate to be a member of.

They are not rational. They don't like to take personal responsibility. And they like to blame everyone else for everything. And the low moral cynical will pile on to try and improve their outcome by behaving badly.

Not all cultures, philosophies, nor religions are the same. Those that use certain words to try and suppress others they disagree with are losing their power. Expect conflict to increase.

@kv No it isn’t! However, it is all too often used as a not - so- great camouflaging word for racism, by bigots of the racist and far right - persuasions.

Culture is not race.

@g2 We'll agree to differ on that. Apologies for not aligning with your world view

@en That's not "what aboutery." The topic is racism and the reply is on topic. If you're not capable of bringing up valid points then simply stay out of the conversation.

@en This is your way of saying that you only see things as an issue if they align with your already-existing views. What a narcissist.

SAP NA purposefully and strategically went “woke” purely for the reduction in higher salary costs aligned to older men.

Phase 1 VERP. Push 1/3 out with a check.

Phase 2 squeeze out 1/3 “undesirables” that do not align to the current woke demographic “Ala mode”. Use any method that management can get away with, including fake anonymous complaints, alleged overspending or even territory reassignment. Just get them out and let the lawyers prep for any backlash.

Phase 3 , continue unreachable quota assignments for the final 1/3. Natural attrition.

The fun part is, very few people know how to sell S4 now. It shows in the numbers

@bh The good old 'what aboutery' defence. Does it need to be said? In your case obviously yes

Now you understand what is the purpose of recent HRBP gala.....

@bh i think that would also come under the definition of racism. For me, racism is any kind of discrimination or hate based on race. Doesn’t matter which race.

The point remains that racism, hate and bigotry divide us rather than unite us. And comments containing these keep us away from the main reason we’re here - to discuss layoffs.

Stack ranking is a proven culture ki-ler. You are "stacked and ranked" against the other employees on your team and the bottom are performance managed out. So it makes sense that it erodes teamwork and encourages people to celebrate their own achievements. The problem is, most effective work is accomplished through collaboration. The Google study clearly demonstrated that the most successful, highly productive teams have one common attribute - psychological safety. Do you think anyone will be asking the "d-mb" question, which just might prompt some kind of creative spark, if they fear that will put them at the bottom of the stack? This is elimination by design and not by accident. Hope you survive the reaping at this week's All Hands!

You don't want people to be hateful then you call them id--ts.

Lead by example. Why do you feel you should get a pass?

There are public facing SAP articles with racist statements toward white people. Do you call that out too or do you just evoke accusatory language when you can use it to your advantage?

You are the one making this a topic.

This hate was carefully curated by the SAP C suite and HR. A hunger games style competition by teams and regions is what they are going for. Look around, it's not just SAP, it's all big companies right now and it's not an accident or coincidence.

You'll see this increase as more companies go to stack ranking and mandatory yearly attrition targets type strategy.
