$950M to buy Lumos fiber

Sievert thins out or ranks by laying off thousands, then turns around and spends $950M on a futile effort and double down on his home internet play? Why are we silent about this?

Taking advantage of subsidies, I don’t doubt. Creating and not eliminating more jobs per usual, I highly doubt.

Is this joint venture part of the Broadband, Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program? Creating jobs and providing access to government subsidies?

Looks like laying off 5000 was a good thing so we can afford to make this purchase. Excellent strategy Mike!

I understand the reduction in transport costs as previously mentioned. However it looks like they only provide services in 3 states. Is that really a worthwhile opex saving investment for 1B?

  1. I'm not your buddy.
  2. The TECHNICAL leadership is Ulf the Destroyer and John Saw the Network up. Both come from Sprint. Both have made HORRIBLE technology decisions in their past. Give them time, they'll figure out how destroy it all.

"The ex Sprinters and Clearwire-ers. running the "New" T-Mobile have tons of experience running a company into the ground."

Uhhh buddy, you need to take a look at where the SLT is coming from. Heavy on the legacy Magenta folks...

Yeah it's infuriating to be told layoffs were painfully necessary only to see NPC's on LinkedIn spending money, getting FroYo, and overall participating in junk post social media.

Mikey’s idea to buy Layer3 really paid off. Instead of getting fing fired like the rest of us would be, he later gets promoted to CEO. Corporate math.

This is to allow T-Mobile to provide its own network to the cell site possibly back haul links between switches etc. This is actually a good buy because we spend alot of money on transport.

SLT selective deafness to the legacy employees that built this company: WE SHOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT SPRINT AND WE SHOULDN'T BE BUYING LUMOS EITHER! 5-10 Years we will be further evidence to the cautionary tales of how not to run a company - these leasons are not new, just new to T-Mobile.
