Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Folks need to start retiring

Chevron is saddled with too many people who should have retired by now but for some reason they're still here. They have lost their drive long ago and are nothing but a burden on the company and yet they stay. Many excellent employees can't get promotions they deserve because nobody is retiring. What needs to happen for some of you to leave?

You need to retire your a-s and quit worrying what other people are doing.

Once you reach 50, you’re skating on thin ice. Be very aware of this fact.

If you see deadwood in your team, bring it up with your boss or her boss. They will love you for it and usually take action.

@2aes: Yes, agreed, stupid post. There was just recently a mass exodus of Sr. Petro Techs who took the package last year. The big “need” in this space now is not for more folks to retire but rather for someone (anyone) who knows anything about successfully exploring for oil and gas.

Hmmm. Was this a post from 2013 delayed until now? There aren't any boomers around anymore to retire!

OP, who died to make you King / Queen for you to dictate on when people should retire? You are a selfish, self-seeking, and self-centered entitled individual that the company can do without.

OP…exactly why is it you get to say when people should retire? Is it because you don’t want to put in the work to get there on your own…..like they did? You do realize you can leave if you really don’t like it. Go to your boss and tell them how it should be and threaten to leave. See how that works out for you. You’ll get an idea how much you’re worth to CVX.

I knew a couple people who retired from Chevron in their early 40s. They were burned out. It was the best move they ever made.

I resemble that remark!

Why should I retire when I am practically retired with full pay and benefits and mostly WFH?

$100/Bbl is blind to incompetence and does not look to going away anytime soon. There is free money to be had.
