Thread regarding Alteryx layoffs

CONFIRMED: January 2026 Layoffs

Moderate layoffs will be coming in January. These are mostly intended as a layoff for low or moderate performers across marketing, product and engineering, not as a broad layoff due to business conditions.

There are no specific target numbers identified — it is primarily low performers, unmotivated people and those who are not on board with the company mission.

@6e0 believe it or not, there are many software companies worse than Alteryx. Where the average engineer there makes the typical Alteryx engineer seem like a godsend.

That’s the only explanation.

The engineering bar is SO MUCH HIGHER at actual SaaS companies. There is less room to hide. Even the sociopathic managers you hear about are orders of magnitude more technical.

@3dc performing quarter after quarter ? You've let go some of your best talent and all the pressure is on the rest of the SEs. They're not even happy and are applying elsewhere. Such a toxic BS culture.

I recall fondly that this same thing happened around 3 years ago and since then the company has gone downhill big time. I survived and then later left. Hearing from those impacted, HR and leadership were absolutely ruthless. How is this place still around? Anyone still there needs to leave and find a new venture.

It's the favorites that always are protected. In the UK a few years ago the partner team cut two fantastic colleagues who were brilliant at doing what they do best, building relationships and gaining mindshare. This Rishi always protects his golden child. Fu-k alteryxx and FU Loic

@4kc there are only two. One is a lot more technical than the other. The more technical one is a senior/weak-staff in big tech.

@41y I don’t think people with salaries higher than the new bands are being targeted.

However, the environment itself tends to reward a specific type of person, and some people are naturally that, or adapt.

Ex. I think we have 6 engineers, at the distinguished, and principal level.

I think only 1 or 2 of them would have a shot at senior/staff in Big Tech. Way below the distinguished/principal title here. The rest are cannon fodder, and will never get that compensation again in their lives. They will be discriminated against due to age, as well.

@3qc it’s also not likely really based on performance. It will be to strip people with high salaries and keep managers’ favorites regardless of competence. Has Andy started giving jobs to his friends and family members? He’ll keep those people too because he loves nepotism.

@3n1 once they decide to get rid of you, it is already too late regardless of the agentic model behind the scenes. Changing their mind will be like arguing politics on Facebook.

Remember folks.

Some managers will aggregate negative feedback about X, to feed into an AI prompt model to counter-argue, and invalidate your views, so they can proceed with their plan.

Phantom managers are Alteryx are great.

Let’s be clear, alteryx is focused on high performance and accountability. We need teams and individuals who consistently deliver results and take ownership of their impact.

The Sales Engineering UK team has continued to perform strongly quarter after quarter, and maintaining that standard is essential. We cannot afford underperformance that negatively affects overall targets.

If you’re here, the expectation is clear: bring your best, continuously improve, and contribute meaningfully, or be prepared to have a conversation about fit.

Since the PE takeover’s hit the ground, it’s been all downhill, I reckon. The focus’s shifted from actually makin’ better product to chasin’ quick profit on the next quarter.

A whole heap of long‑time users keep sayin’ Alteryx’s cloud play and server hitched‑up need a serious upgrade—innovation’s slowin’ like a herd on a summer trail. Folks on the outside complain, workers shake their heads with worry, and the middle and senior mngr’s folks makin’ decisions are as dead as a doornail. Please fire middle and senior management.

Throw a few ChatGPT connectors in the mix ain’t makin’ it an AI‑first outfit for nuthin’ but a bump to the wall.

Fire those middle and senior mangers. The chaotic culture just keeps growin’ with the top brass showin’ a downright lack of effort to set a steady, communicative tone.

Everybody’s out there lookin’ to wrangle some leverage from one another. The so‑called “friends” can’t even stand each other for a minute, always ready to slam them under the bus whenever they get the chance.

@21m he ran act-on into the cr-pper as well. He brought in his cronies but he didn’t offshore process. He just shut down the Roseville office which was full of bright & passionate hard workers. “Bring in your cronies & ki-l established culture.” Sounds familiar…

Is that what Andy said? He’s gonna eventually gut the entire US presence as much as possible and offshore most roles. That’s what he did at UserTesting and that company barely has a pulse at this point.

Moderate/low performers make up most of engineering. I'd say like 90%. It is primarily based on how your manager perceives you.

Entire teams are checked out. I don't blame them. The goal is to have several staff+ engineers in the US, and off-shore the rest in India. They won't be replacing anyone who is laid off or quits. The raises coming March are going to be pitiful, like 5% if you get a promotion.

Sounds like a business-as-usual. No reason to keep low performers around.
