Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Listless

Really not sure what to do about this place anymore. I work in Community Connections and the entire channel is fundamentally broken. Micromanagement from the top down to the team level, concerns acknowledged and ignored. Our offices are closed to the public, we’re almost a virtual company without the presence of techs in the field and the fact that I report to an empty office daily or I lose my job. Quota climbs incrementally every month at a time when very few are breaking 25-30%, and these are agents who have always done good. The Uniti merger will change nothing if Lorenzo Clark isn’t sent back to the Panthers.

@21s Everyone hates LAs guts. She was hated when she was a regional manager, and as SC’s bi--h/secretary she’s getting a serious dose of reality. Shoulda known it was gonna come back on her eventually. Hope she reads this and has a come to Jesus.

@1rs LA isn't the only one. MB was in on it for years as well. Telling people to put orders in DCRIS and change the e# to IT. I am lmao over this. Just sorry it took so long. LA better go back to jer TikTok videos to try and make her money now

Community Connections is suddenly the place to be. IT down in GA got s-canned on Wednesday, gotta wonder if LA is getting her resume ready for covering for the insane amount of fraud IT was committing.

Reminds me of the Dalton Panda. Service desk needs more people on phones? "We'll be happy to help." Networking needs people to sit on 2 hour long calls, "We'll be happy to help." Security made an Oopsy and needs bodies to contact users, "We'll be happy to help". SB (FMR IT director), "Why are these tickets not getting resolved???" So glad they are both RIF'd. Sadly, along with the more experienced ITSS folks that knew what they were doing.

@1jk it took you way too long to catch on. Most of us in the field are working a different job and let Windstream keep paying the freight…

"We should have a vote; How many bosses do you have? I count 4 that I work for directly."

I have one boss but apparently anyone at any level in the company can request something and I have to do it. So, my development pipeline just keeps getting longer and longer. The ~3% I got this year when I was rated above all my co-workers (who also got ~3%) convinced me to not put a single f'ing ounce of extra effort into anything.

Sales themselves are important, but salespeople sure as fu-k aren't.

Have you ever in your personal or professional life interacted with a salesperson of your own volition, or was it always because it's the only way to buy certain things?

Now, complex designs? Sure, sales engineers are useful. But 95% of what we sell could be a bog standard off the shelf offering.

Nobody wants to talk to you. They just want to go online and buy the thing they need, because it's fu--ing 2025 and our lack of self service options for buying stuff that fits into that standard box is embarrassing.

But it's all a symptom of the overall systemic issues. We have hundreds of products in our systems because we're too scared to say sh-t doesn't make sense to keep selling anymore. We'll grandfather you in for years on old sh-t, charge you too much for it, and then complain when that makes things like mapping product offerings take a year in just planning for a billing migration.

And so we need salespeople to wade thru all of the piles of sh-t of our own making.

I hope they automate you all out of a job.

The last time there was any success in what use to be retail was when tracy and Kim were there and that was because they were not promoted from within. They actually had knowledge of sales and sales strategies. Why windstream continues with promoting people that know nothing other than how they were told to do things 15 yrs ago I will never understand. Without sales, you don't have a business, it's that simple. Brow beating, harassing and threatening people with their jobs is not a sales strategy. A good manager is able to implement new ideas and then help you implement them. Not just say do your job. How can you do your job when leadership doesn't lead because they are clueless and uneducated.

@rt It’s LA and SC, MB has been gone for a couple months now. No, they don’t and they have no impetus to improve. Just continue the status quo or accelerate agent burnout until they precipitate all the tenured reps who made the channel successful before.

LA (still LA to me, won’t last) and MB are in charge. What do you expect? You thought WD, MB, or LA have what it takes to be successful?
