Thread regarding USAA layoffs

New Chief Transformation Officer

No thanks, WP. We’ve had enough of your transformation from USAA to BofA.

I have an issue with this hiring. We have had most of our teams cut in half, told to cut budgets, and do more with less. If everything is about do more with less then why are we hiring a multimillion dollar california executive to do work the EC’s (looking at you Amala) teams cannot complete? Most of our teams have hundreds of work orders backlogged that are slowly being completed due to budget/staff cuts. This backlog negatively impacts employees which is impacting members. The money Wayne is spending on this executive should not be allowed. If his team cannot get the work done then Wayne needs to replace EC members with people that can do the work. Wayne likes to constantly talk about doing right with the members money. This is another showing of him wasting the members money to try and keep himself afloat. Instead of wasting money on one employee, how about helping teams that need staff to complete tasks? We are burning out in this toxic environment. We keep hoping things will get better but decisions like this show there is no light or hope at the end of the tunnel.

Makes you wonder about the competency of the BoD. We know that they know they made a grievous mistake in selecting the most selfish EC member in Wayne to be CEO. Are they now making WP select his successor? Gen Bob and Tommy? Still incestuous as they are Wayne's lapdog. Need a clean slate and fire SVPs and higher.

What confirmed source did you get this information regarding a successor for Wayne? How did you learn the details around the initial plan to give Bob Whittle time to learn the business and groom him for CEO. Were you in the meeting discussing this transition?

His approval rating is 68% on indeed and 56% on Glassdoor (this one might be a bit lower as there are 2 reviews of the interm) and if you look at the history it shows low 80s until recently.

Where are you getting 92%?

Also if you look at the complaints, it all looks very familiar.

Tom Troy came from a company that puts their employees first, is a remote first culture, and also had a 92% approval as CEO on Glassdoor. I now have hope that USAA can be saved and restored back to the glory company we all joined.

Can you shed some light on where you heard this? That’s a pretty bold assertion.

He's being hired as Wayne's successor which means his timeline for leaving has moved up . The initial plan was to give Bob Whittle time to learn the business and groom him for CEO, but now with a quicker exit for Wayne, they needed an industry veteran with a military link to quickly takeover. Less hope it's sooner than later!

Let’s hope your faith in Wayne’s ability to pick his leaders is well placed…

This dedicated role is sorely needed. The EPMO has literally forced waterfall controls into what are supposed to be agile processes, causing delivery teams to have to dedicate thousands of people to comply with frankenstein rules that shouldn't exist in the first place and literally add zero value. On top of that, they did so in the most complex tool environment ever, with adoption of Jira, Rally, and Clarity, all at the same time, in order to get anything done. Because they implemented all three industry enterprise portfolio management tools, simultaneously, they also need to create a whole team to maintain them and keep them all talking to each other. I cannot think of a way to have made getting what is supposed to be "agile" work done, more convoluted and less agile. Just that by itself could produce over a Billion in efficiency and make the work less infuriating for delivery teams who are currently toiling away doing useless work in the current process.
