Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

What is happening

So MW pushed out PB who was supposed to be the next ceo. NH is pushed out too. So now we are left with losers EB, MN, and JG. This company is going down.

EB has been a train wreck at every position she's held. Only her gender keeps her in the conversation for CEO.

EB, MN, and JG are next to go. MW just likes to build excitement.

MW, please make up your mind about EB and JG fast, so you can make optimal staffing decisions while you have time. Don't wait too long, otherwise you will run out of time and you will have no choice but to leave the position to one of them, since there is no time to make other plans. If you leave the position to EB or JG, they will destroy what's left of this company.

Maybe JG?

Yeah, but EB does not have what it takes... I think they will bring someone from outside

MN is 61 (or more), so no chance to be CEO. MW will be around a couple more years and MN will time out at age 65 (mandatory at PSG28 and up). They won't make him CEO for just a couple years. Board likes CEOs available for 8-10 years, so someone under age 56 today would be ideal. JG is 52. EB is 50. NH is 56 and was probably told he would be too old to be eligible at age 58-59 so he quit in a huff.

My favorite do nothing executive MN is rising to the top. He's full of it so it's not a problem for this incompetent slob to move up. His next title will be super senior vice vice chair and minister of funny walks. MW must be useless if he thinks this clown is a performer.

MN already pushed out NH. So he is happy with EB and JG, the two id--ts. The ceo path is open for him now.

EBs former advisor KP had a big mouth. She used to tell us how bad EB was and we did not believe her. Now that we support her and we watch her struggle through basic problems, our entire decision making process is stalled. She is not present externally either. MW needs to take a hit and replace her ASAP. It's bad folks, she is really really bad.

@1mlb, There may be, there may not be, maybe when you grow up, get promoted, and are in a position to make or at least affect those decisions, you can give them your ideas?

MW cuts everything to raise his compensation to one of the highest paid CEOs in the world, but is there another better way to do that?

MW destroyed the company with the obsession with layoffs and cuts. Companies just don't learn here that yes cuts might boost profits for a short time but when you cut so deep like was done in "Transform to Win" in the long run the company falls apart. Look at Boeing. They cut costs very deeply to raise the stock price and look what's happened to them. We are now feeling the same pain due to management only looking at shareholder value in the short term. Let's make money the right way which is not laying off, outsourcing and cutting corners to boost profits. We need a new generation of CEOs in this country!

They should make a new show called survivor. Keep your competition close and wait to stiff them

My guess is she will either be forced out or she will replace MG as hr manager in 2-3 years. It is scary how bad the caliber of our elt. Also, it is ironic that the first thing MW spoke of during his first townhall after becoming the ceo was the history of cvx... he alluded to existential crisis that cvx may face unless we change..

It is now clear that the changes he introduced made the company weaker. Also, our portfolio choices have been poor, overreliance on one asset class make us very vulnerable. We keep selling off assets elsewhere instead of looking for growth in places that are difficult but they bring bigger reward if handled well. We have no exploration budget, so we are going to keep paying more to enter a new basin than our competitors... so in a way, mw might have been predicting what he will do to this company subconsciously in some weird Freudian way... and leaving eb as a ceo will guarantee that cvx will cease to exist. She will just cry and say that mw left her a mess and she had no choice but to sell off what's left of the company.

The plan was for EB to be the next CEO. She has done well hiding her weaknesses and focusing and preparing for a,few critical meetings with MW and thr board and then hiding out. Now she is being tested having to work along MW every day. It is now painfully obvious to him how mediocre she is and what horrible mistake he has made promoting her. You can work hard, but at some point you need some talent for analytical thought process, public speaking and ability to connect different pieces of information to provide guidance... she

MW actually beat out PB for CEO - he was a total dark horse up until the announcement. PB could have quit the next day and been CEO elsewhere but hung around for who knows what reason.

EB is the next CEO, that is 100% certain.

PB was not competent. He was purely a numbers guy. Knew nothing about the actual business.

Next ceo will be a tech-bro-neo-libertarian outside hire. They will charm the board with AI fairy tales, and we’ll turn into new Twitter(X)
