Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Constantly tired

Lately I’ve been constantly tired and it’s getting worse and worse. I started to suffer from insomnia and there is no way I can rest. I used to be tired before, but this is already a chronic fatigue.
I took a few days off to try to get some relief, but there was no special effect other than the extra stress of knowing I had to go back to work. It’s time for another job, but I wonder if there is anyone else who is facing extreme fatigue?

The fundamentals of running a business within COP really do not exist, Leadership causes way to much churn thru various scenarios that are requested which causes employees to do meaningless work or task. This will wear a person out, if you work hard and see results from your efforts then their is a payout.....but COP is a sweat shop in a lot ways.

Previous poster: if it takes that much work to not hate your life, you’re doing something wrong. OP: find a better job and quit this sewer. It’s the only way.

For stressful work atmospheres, it is best to have a distinct break between work and bedtime of minimum 3 hours. You must purpose to stop the mind from work related matters and re–focus on something else during this period. Once you determine – at this time on the clock – I will cease whatever CP task I am working on. From that time and forward for 3 hours, it will be important to relax the mind by walking/jogging, then some light sit–ups, leg lifts and stretching exercise for 45 minutes to 1 hour. After this, a warm shower/bath for 20 minutes minimum, then 2 melatonin tablets 45 minutes before bedtime – then read something of personal interest or listen to music until your fall asleep. It will take about 5–6 weeks for your body/mind to adjust, but the long–term effects will absolutely be of value to your whole.

Time for you to move on. That will eventually show up as a major health issue as that is how our bodies react. If you don’t exercise, start. If you do’ pick something more intense and challenging. Push yourself mentally by doing physically tough things. You’ll forget all about that cr–p ho–e you work at. If stuff like that doesn’t help, then pack it up and quit. Once something happens to you, you’ll be on your own and they don’t give on squirt of p1zz about you. I been outta there for a few years now. I never heard from anyone I worked with or for in the office. A few of the field guys and I stay in touch. Office people at COP and in Houston oil companies in general are worthless human beings with no compassion. They look at you as a tool. And that is ok, but they smile and act like it’s more. Anyway, I have people tell me I look younger now years after being away from that place. It will do wonders for you. And if you put as much time into your own business as you did at that place you’ll be financially better off also...I am. Best wishes!

This is a sinking ship. Get out.

Your fatigue is only going to get worse as more people leave this toxic place. Talk to anyone layed off or resigned.

You should go see a doctor buddy. You arent going to get sound advice from an anonymous layoff board.

Well Mr. / Ms. @1zlr+1arsOPAY, I retired in October, lost 25lbs, in much better shape, everybody seems to think it agrees with me.

We took some personality tests a couple of years a go. (If that wasn't a rigged deal). Everyone in the class was rated as nice or easy going, stay in your own lane except me. I really was stigmatized more than once in a very public way. F'em. If Houston is like BVille, it is a very sick organization.

Uncle JoBi is going to destroy our recently achieved energy independence, so we can all be slaves.

I had mini nights like that for the past several years. Now that I am no longer with the company I sleep better feel better and my family tells me they’ve noticed a major improvement in my overall attitude and appearance. The single best word I ever found to describe Conoco Phillips is toxic. Seriously consider getting a new job or even finding a new career in a different industry. That’s just my own experience though.

Take it from someone who has been through this. Don’t take it lightly. If you’re having these issues please please seek the support you need or just get away with the family for a while to recharge your batteries. I let my ego and stigmas get in my way and by the time I decided to seek help it was almost too late. Nothing is worth it.

I have awakened nightly for 6 years and I replay all my career events. It’s a mixture of emotions. Sadness, fear, anger, hopelessness, confusion, melancholy and an overwhelming sense of being treated unfairly. I thought it would end when I was laid off but it became worse. If this is the future, there is no hope.
