Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Indian employees trying to control US based employees because of Management

India based VP's trying to control US based employees. They don't have proper understanding of Business or Technology. Just clean office politics and managers trying to save money by offloading work to India.

I know in some projects, Indian managers control US employees and contractors. Their wording is final and they don't even listen to design changes or technology changes proposed.

There is NO proper development or Technical/Business Leadership in USA. I see most US based employees lost hope in politics and just wait for their severance. These Indian managers/developers with little knowledge are trying to gain control.
Many projects which get started are not ending. They are just deferred.

Managers & Directors don't prefer to try anything new. They stick with old technology and delivery is key. So "Commit very very less and Deliver right" is the key motto here.
Employees are outdated and don't fit in the emerging market.

This doesn't seems healthy environment for future. Better to run.

Citi closed its consumer business in India long back. It only has its technical divisions.

@4xvr+1qewL2Uf, Citi is multinational company which has entities that generates revenue in India so certain full time jobs needs to be there but agree Citi sponsoring H1B visas displacing American workers and outsourcing through TCS ,Infosys and other vendors are out of control.

I believe Citi is a US company and India outsourcing should be limited and controlled. Not the other way around. How many Indian workers will lose job as part of this layoffs ? Hardly few because of low cost.

Post ID: @1zdj+1qewL2Uf: same situation is with TCS. Many TCS folks(from India) lacks in ethics., their mentality is to keep the work and knowledge with them, they won’t include any other ethnic group employees even if they are hired by TCS. Many managers favours this vendor employees thus growth of Citi employees are very much suppressed.

For past 2-3 years, Citi is announcing that it wants to stop hiring consultants and promote employee friendly company. But in the current scenario, it still holds consultants.
Infact, its planning to cut down its employees. What a sh---y strategy.

Jane, can you let go all "Vendor consultants" before letting go your employees ?
You will see the real picture of your company and thats where you have to start again.
Don't just hire Indians and Diversity (again Indian consultants / ladies are occupying diversity positions). Why can't you really hire and retain the real diversity people ?

Fix your hiring, raise hiring standards of Citi.

I am an Indian and migrated here very young. I joined Citi 15 months back and I still can’t fit into Citi culture because of few typical Indian micro managers and very old fashioned Citi employees (with 20 plus years experience).Lot of them do not know how other companies are forwarding let it be technology, process etc.,
They don’t like CHANGE and we won’t see change until you let go old fashioned thinking leads

Yes, hiring a new team of 9 but 6 are being sponsored and relocated from India. Very strange considering expense management?!?

Please note that wipro employees (Indian company) are responsible for revlon issue. There is no shame in highlighting that vendor consultants and Citi managers favoring vendor consultants are responsible for Citi's downfall. These vendor consultants are mainly from India. US w2 consultants are paid almost equivalent to US employees and are let go if they are not competent. But it is the vendor consultants who stay and play politics along with the manager who is hired into Citi from same consultancy company or getting paid back in India /Perks as bribes for hiring their consultant.

Don't you agree Iris, Infosys and Capgemini had holiday parties with Citi managers recently ? just for hiring their consultants and extending their contracts ?

Citi managers/Directors are making extra money by hiring vendor consultants and favoring.

Post ID: @whm+1qewL2Uf : So you think that offshoring does not lead to lowering the quality of work? The main reason Citi hires in India is money - but cheap labor on average means lower quality. So Citi compensates quality with higher numbers, so at the end of the day, the company pays the same.

Not prejudiced in anyway, just an observation. At top of the bank within leadership teams in that dynamic..
Indians from India/Singapore throughout that part of Citi.

They use Jane’s name so employees are discouraged to report them (delegating work to others/working out with trainer/ going to Starbucks twice a day & taking attendance on those they wish to terminate (non south east Asia).

Oh Yes! Let us blame the indians! "They don't have proper understanding of Business or Technology". Ok, Mr. Turing. Asians make only 19% of the Citi workforce. Until last month, everyone was blaming the management. Now it is the indians. Let us wait for the next target. With these moaners, it is always others' fault.

I have noticed the same in other companies, as well as Citi. For Citi, what you say is valid also for the Warsaw office - not to mention the fact that many polish employees are moving to LDN/NY just because of politics, not because they are so good and no equivalent could be found in UK/US. Ridiculous.
