Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Anthem work ethic

I have been with Anthem 20+ years and always had a high work ethic. I encourage everyone, with the obvious disregard Anthem is showing to the employees, to re-think how you work. I no longer work on minute over 40 hours, no evenings, no weekends. I meet my deadlines but no longer go beyond the minimum requirements. Quiet quitting is becoming my best work skill while remaining in this toxic company. I wish everyone the best regardless of what happens.

I was almost at my 25th year when I got laid off. The package deal they give was not worth what we was worth to the company. Also gave incorrect information to give to unemployment and they will not fight for you either. They are like the IRS..All they want is their money. I see all the time what a great place to work for. To be honest it was when Jeff Mcwaters first started it. Anyone who still there watch your back.

This is so true. You must look out for yourself, do JUST ENOUGH. Because I myself have a strong work ethic, never ever called out, was always here on time and I still am getting laid off. Work smart, not harder. I was a high performer on my team as well.

You can still be RIF’ed while under FMLA. Unfortunately. @1yxz+1tSQuiMN

Even if one is on FMLA, one can still be RIF-ed given that others are RIF-ed. This happened with a former spouse. I spent an hour talking to with ACLU. The elephant and other companies can do it.

I came from a high performance workplace as a top performer. Despite my above and beyond’s and atta boys, I am “meets” here who gets a 2.25% increase. So I now perform as a meets whose wage isn’t even par with inflation. Bare minimum.

If at all possible go out on a FMLA for stress. Get what you can from your PTO and disability coverage. Beat them to the punch

I stopped going above and beyond when 2 of my coworkers got cancer and another one died of a heart attack. I’m not ki-ling my self for this company when I can easily be replaced and forgotten. Do not give them one extra second of your soul.

I was there for 20+ years too. Worked hard, gave them extra time when it was needed, never got written up. Didn't complain the year we didn't get $bonuses, and instead were each given a pair of Anthem-branded camp chairs.

Then I was RIF'd with NO warning whatsoever. I had no idea layoffs were even happening, so it was completely shocking. I'm disgusted the company could so easily throw me away like garbage and saw no value in my institutional knowledge and relationships. Don't waste your effort working hard for them. It won't matter in the end. Punch in and do the bare minimum.

If companies want to see workers as renters, then act like a renter. Owners build, renters maintain. Companies used to feel like you were building something together, now it’s just a job that will go to the lowest bidder.

Ir you get paid for OT then definitely get every penny you can. For those of us on salary don't give Anthem anything extra.

I work exactly the amount of time I’m paid for. Working harder and longer hours never gained me anything, taking on extra work or going above and beyond never got me ahead. I’ve been meets expectations for so many years on my performance reviews, it has broken me. Performance ratings are political not merit based in my opinion.

I can tell you that you’re not alone. This place has taken its toll on associates health both physically and mentally. The amount of OOO I’ve seen for folks taking an extended LOA is disheartening. People who previously had such a passion for the work we did no longer have that flame. Very sad to see and be a part of.
