Thread regarding USAA layoffs

fight RTO

It's important for employees to come together and take action in order to improve their situation in the workplace. Simply complaining won't bring about the necessary changes. Writing negative reviews on sites like Glassdoor and deice, candid feedback through pulse surveys, and even starting a union are all potential ways to fight for better working conditions.

Rather than settling for what management offers, employees should come together and demand better conditions. Management might be looking for only 2 days RTO but on purpose asked for 4 days RTO so that they can say that they listened to employees and reduced RTO to 2 days.

Moreover if more people can contact https://www.sanders.senate.gov/contact/contact-form/ and other politicians to express their concerns, that will be awesome. I guess if 1000 employees email to Bernie Sanders or to any politician, it will be very effective. Maybe everyone needs to stress that management is doing pseudo layoffs and trying to save on severance. Also asking for help with forming a union should be super useful

Fighting RTO isn’t going to do anything. You have to choose whether to stay or leave. If you stay, then brush up on doing the bare minimum amount of work to not get fired and then simply punch in and out each day. Going above and doing an amazing job will no longer get you anywhere.

USAA isn’t an ethical company. It’s an immoral cesspool that would rather roll the dice and risk breaking the law versus doing the right thing. I’ve never worked for such a shady, sketch, and deceitful company in my life!

“ Severance is legally required for layoffs because it is the ethical right thing to do for employees”

There’s no legal requirement for a company to pay severance. You basically state that 4 words later. There is no ethical obligation either.

Another reason why a Union would be a nice protection.

@1ylh+1mnJn4KS If they need to lay people off then they should pay them severance. Severance is legally required for layoffs because it is the ethical right thing to do for employees and fosters a healthy job market and economy. This is a legal grey move trying to avoid giving people severance yet still forcing them to quit. It should probably be illegal in itself to force attrition in this way.

Also, by your own implication, the most skilled people will be able to go elsewhere. So, loyal employee, where does this leave you? At the office with all the least motivated and least skilled people. Even if you love working from the office, this decision negatively impacts your job.

The reason they gave such a long runway before they enforce this is because they want people to quit and this allows people plenty of time to job search before the 4 days is enforced. If 4 days in office really mattered that much to them for the reasons they state, they wouldn't wait 8 months to put it in place. For a company that has core principles of honesty and integrity, those principles are absent when it comes to their RTO approach.

Ha ha ha ha

Sometimes people are so delusional when desperate.

They need people to quit and leave, pure mathematics to reducing expenses. Guess what, any of the 475 laid off would gladly take your job and show up to the office. Give me a phucking break.

Just make the choice to quit and find a remote position or quiet quit if need. Let me know how the outside market is.

I empathize. I heard from others they are intentional in trying to make some folks voluntarily look for work elsewhere.
