Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Ulf’s email might be the worst piece of corporate communication I’ve ever seen

ZERO acknowledgement of how hard it has been seeing our friends go. Or how hard it’s been waiting to see who gets the call.

Calling us the “go-forward” team? WTH!!

It was chock full of meaningless jargon. What the he-l is a “programmable network.” He’s obsessed with the idea of AI with no actual clue or plan of how AI plays a role. Ironically, he should have just had ChatGPT write the email because it would have been way better.

Ulf is such a loser. It’s amazing how quickly his horrible impact was felt once Neville left.

“ Marcus proposed his second reorg idea. At the time I was in the Billing Tech team working to address issues between Business or Care and Amdocs. Then Marcus wanted us to "go Agile and focus on AI and being Digital first.”

Marcus strikes again. What a horrible and clueless person! It’s astonishing how everything he’s involved in seems to go awry, even when it involves people like Abigail, Senthil, Melissa, Adam etc…

I miss you Neville. This Ulf guy is a piece of work.

The comment about Ulf outsourcing network operations in 2024 has merit. AT&T recently signed a mega deal with HCL to do just that. With none of the executives here capable of generating a unique idea on their own, you can bet Ulf will jump on AT&T’s idea real quick.

A person cannot claim to be a victim when the person voluntarily submits themselves to bad treatment year after year.

There is a reason why you are treated like the dregs. It is because the only people remaining ARE the dregs. Anyone with a brain already departed this terrible company.

@1ygd+1ouK4VVG No, the billing team got split up around the time Marcus proposed his second reorg idea. At the time I was in the Billing Tech team working to address issues between Business or Care and Amdocs. Then Marcus wanted us to "go Agile and focus on AI and being Digital first." That led to billing solutions and billing technical being thrown under Marketing for a while before the fifth re-org in my three years at T-Mobile brought the billing team under three different teams with no actual overlap or shared leadership. The last two years were a disaster with some of the billing team being under Mike Katz, some being under Marcus, and some being split off to God knows where.

At one point, my entire team lost out on two days of discussions on a project because unknowing to us, we got moved again and put into a totally different workspace in Slack and lost access to previous project channels.

Between R2D2 bullsh-t from Marcus, re-org bullsh-t from the SLT, and complete non-sense from a bunch of the billing teams being moved under ex-Sprint leadership who didn't have a background in outstanding work or Amdocs deals, it became increasingly difficult to figure out what was going on let along who was our boss and who were the people we were meant to be supporting.

…..our team will stick together like never before….

Wow what words, they fall on deaf ears.

People who gave this company their
Blood
Sweat
Tears
Weekends
Worry
Excitement
Hope
Everything they had for
10, 15, 20 years

And T-mobile spat on that dedication. No they don’t see great things in our future… they see great things in their futures.

Thank you whomever shared the email. That word salad of useless and cliche BS makes me actually feel better about being let go, to some degree.

The funny thing is, his email is a prime example of a position which can be replaced by AI/chatgpt.

Part 4

Those changes and the steps we took this week have organized us for the next growth phase.

Part 3

In addition to delivering Best Network – Best Experience – Best Value, our network now needs to become a programmable platform, and our IT infrastructure and services need to evolve to accelerate our journey to become deeply data-informed, AI-enabled, digital-first to deliver best-in-class customer experience.

In April, we introduced the technology domains to drive a culture of cross-team collaboration, build efficiencies, and empower leaders to drive execution.

Have to paste in parts because of word limit:

Part 1:

Team,

Over the past couple of weeks, we have seen organizational transformation across T-Mobile, and this week we completed our team changes, including all of our notifications. I want to start by acknowledging the contributions and commitment of the departing team members and wish them the best as they embark on their next chapter. Each of you will hear directly from your leader as it relates to the detailed changes within your respective teams.

Ulf came from Ericsson already a failing company which is badly run. Only reason he got the job was TMO hoping to get better pricing , I bet Ericsson will be coming in with "AI" network optimization solutions. They f'ked up billing systems once, now it's gonna be the network!
