Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Volunteer Packages have started

Y'all won't believe what I just heard.

One of my project manager buddies in Technolgy told me that their SVP called a sudden meeting today to make an announcement about volunteer severance packages.

They've only got a couple weeks to decide if they want in on it or not.

Oh, it's totally legit. Technology news flies fast, and right after the call, a bunch of people on it were saying the exact same thing.

The SVP called a last-minute meeting. They announced a VSP for PMs. They got two weeks to decide, but no guarantees it'll get approved.

If this is true then rest assured layoffs are about 1 month out.. most likely this is all rumors

If you’re a hard worker, you’re not going to be asked to separate from the company. The company isn’t going to ask those who hustle to step aside.. they are still trying to run a successful biz.. if you are asked that means you either don’t have that hustle or you have had that level of conversation (willing to take a package) with your front line manager in the past.. that’s the bottom line!

I know many store managers that would line up for this.

Would have been nice if they were smart enough to do this initially and saved some people that needed their job and added value.

Anyone questioning the validity of this, this is 100% true. Call was held by Ra ap. This is happening folks and if there isn't enough volunteers you know what happens next. BE READY.

Question for (Ops Is Getting Outsourced). What OPS are you referring to? Network ops , bussiness ops, national ops, regional ops, market ops, sales ops, all of them? Who is it going to be outsourced to?

The severance packages are already defined. Go into the HR tools and download the standard. There's nothing to negotiate. How much severance you get is defined, based upon how long you've been with Sprint/T-Mobile. It maxes out at 6 months. And you'll get paid out your current period of RSU's. You get COBRA (which ain't cheap) after your severance period.

Also be careful if you "volunteer" to be laid off, as you might not get the 2 months of Garden Leave, which is given because they didn't give you two months notice of a layoff.

There were 3 operations teams at the time of the merger.

  1. T-Mobile (Same team covered 2G through 5G)
  2. Sprint LTE
  3. Sprint IS-41 (CDMA) - Pretty much laid this team off when they shut down CDMA.

Ulf will take what's left, outsource to his buddies at Ericsson again, and then lay off the lot and watch his stock value go up for cutting costs.

On the Bellevue "development" side, there's about 3 folks who actually "design" things. The rest manage the junk that comes out from Ericsson and Nokia. You could lay off almost all Bellevue and nothing bad would happen.

This is good news right? 1. They are still offering severance packages 2. Maybe the next round won’t cut as deep if they get enough volunteers

Big changes are coming in July. I can't say much or this post will be removed... If you're part of Operations sharpen your resume, reach out to local vendors to inquire about future job opportunities, and get prepared. Don't get caught with your pants down. Best of luck to everyone.
