Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Every person for themselves

I have to admit the atmosphere here is starting to weigh on me. People are acting like everybody is out to get them. Not just the management, which I can understand, but their coworkers as well. I don't remember the last time I had a friendly chat with somebody. It makes me sad that this is the kind of environment DXC is fostering. This can't be good for either the employees or the productivity. But this is where we are.

I don't know what teams you all are on, but the team I am on we all help each other. From the functional middle managers down it's all about helping each other.

Don't forget to scratch "Brooks was here" on your way out

Oh just let the cards fall. Glad to have left long ago. Many would rather be unemployed if given the option and work in such a toxic environment.

Says it all about both you and DXC”

Maybe it's a UK thing or maybe it's just because we're just lowly techies but in my many years of working I've never encounter that poisonous atmosphere you describe. Maybe it's a thing with managers or HR but with staff who just want to get through the week and
couldn't care less about the latest DXC values or branding, never seen it in 20+ years

“ Going back a few years now, but the atmosphere in DXC was quite suffocating and depressive and the atmosphere seemed to follow you into your personal life, making you generally miserable and fed up with everything. So I can sympathize. However, years on and I am now in a good job, better money and benefits with a great team who have team days and meals out and xmas parties coming up - post covid.”

This could have been written by me. I had a senior role in DXC, and at times found myself at risk of WFR, whilst also working out who to WFR from my department- even though we were 100% billable at the time. This isn’t the sort of thing you ‘switch off from’ when you leave the office, it has a heavy impact on your life beyond the office.

In my final role at DXC, I was delivering a potentially great programme for a client, when 40% of my delivery team were WFRd, and I wasn’t even consulted about it. Of course, we could no longer deliver; my resignation went in the next day. I believe that DXC has now lost that client.

I’m in a better place now, happier at work and outside work too.

Agree with dEzKnRs and this happened to me before DXC kicked me out without warning.

If you do extra mile and above, or give any sort of answer to line manager/s or fellow colleague problems they resent you, pass awful and nasty remarks followed by endless Bullying and heaping as much work on to one shoulder's until you break.

Things get even worse when DXC run there frequent WFR programme, managers and your work colleagues turn on you and each other - very depressing environment

Best thing just look after yourself, learn on the job in quiet periods, do bear minimum and your contractual, don't go overboard in helping your colleagues and DXC's customers.

Look at sprucing up CV and apply for jobs - certainly is not helpful or healthy, e.g., mental health, etc staying at DXC, things haven't change even with a 2nd CEO and whole raft of upper management

You might think you are "mates" with a few of your team members, but thats only because you haven't found who is quietly shafting you.

I'm as cynical as the next long suffering DXC employee but I don't recognize that behaviour, my colleagues are the only good thing about DXC. The company execs and so called leaders are terrible, sorry excuses for human beings but my co-workers are great.

Having said that, the company (DXC and what came before) have made it abundantly clear that self-interest is the only game in town, there's no greater good or any reward for being a team player, it's get what you can for yourself and forget everyone else. That's the only thing the execs lead by example on.

@1xrk+1dEzKnRs - Snap! I call it the donkey trap. Anybody more than half capable will get 'loaded up' until that single straw touches your back 😢.

I resigned a from a responsible role in portfolio as leaders expected miracles "take these crochet needles, sit over there next to that 🌥 and plat me a solution". As soon as you get known by sales for helping to sell DXC 'Mist' your are on all the calls.. I had no time to even 'plat the fog' so I just got better at PPTX.

I've told many colleagues and onboarders to keep a low profile and simply do the job they were hired for. No extra miles. No glory grabbing.

I had to learn this the hard way after some exec mentioned my name in a "hall of fame" town hall. What I experienced next was nothing but toxicity and sabotage thrown in my direction.

After roughly 5 months of working under these toxic circumstances, I handed my resignation without warning. All because I was mentioned in their stupid town hall. My manager and his manager had this surprised Pikachu face when I resigned. After I explained them my situation, they refused to believe it. Goes to show that the higher-ups are oblivious to the issue.

Bullying is a serious issue at DXC. Colleagues will find out and will start to resent you, particularly those who get a bonus or salary increase are at the receiving end of psychological te---r. That is if these things get leaked out. What I can say about this place, really - stick your head out above the crowd, and you get it chopped off.

Going back a few years now, but the atmosphere in DXC was quite suffocating and depressive and the atmosphere seemed to follow you into your personal life, making you generally miserable and fed up with everything. So I can sympathize. However, years on and I am now in a good job, better money and benefits with a great team who have team days and meals out and xmas parties coming up - post covid. It just makes you feel more relaxed, more productive and collaborative, helping each other to succeed. Reminds me of when I started my career. Even CSC wasn't half bad before 2010, but DXC was just the pits and like others I never thought things would get any better and the fear of jumping out of the fire into the frying pan kept me there far too long. Stupid fear when I think back.

Well, most of those that are still onboard in "Transformation" affected areas = WFR probably cannot leave due to financial or personal constraints while they feel the pressures and see their colleagues leaving (forced or voluntary)... This is cornering and people act accordingly... Fear and uncertainty will hopefully not end in disaster as people become angry and run amok...

That's the atmosphere created by toxic management and leadership. Best advice I have is simple: Get Out NOW.

It's unfortunate, Mike & Mary have a combined track record of building great organizations. I'm not sure why that can't or won't do this with DXC, but it's clear that the company is becoming steadily worse for both customers and employees. Maybe it will change, maybe it won't. Is it worth staying for maybe?
