Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

F*ck it, 2Union

2U continues to hire more and more management bloat while laying off the workers who actually do work. Paul, Matt, Aaron, Andrew, Virginia, and now Matt D, etc, have all received promotions and pay increases despite (because of?) multiple rounds of layoffs.

Management will continue to enrich themselves until workers do something about it.

We need 40-50% of the workforce to sign a union petition to seek recognition from the NLRB. I'll put my name on it when there's some real traction. Who's in?

Post ID: @2odr+1rpOBSkI, it's fascinating that that is what you took from my post. I'll start from square one: You are subpar!

Once you've analyzed and dissected that fact, we can build the concept blocks from there.

Go ahead and search 2u/edx on reddit. Its not just me who thinks everyone and every product at this company is subpar. The stock has been below 50 cents for over a month, but im sure youre correct. Everyone else is the problem, not 2u!

I would like to see them try and outsource all the tech work. We already have IC contractor bloat that I can't believe made it through layoffs.

Post ID: @1xdp+1rpOBSkI, what "this helps" do in reality is suggest to All of the remaining ( as well as potentially future ) school partners that the main people (admissions) who are directly responsible for servicing their precious clientele, are subpar.

And if you don't believe that all types of eyes are on this specific space, making all types of decisions/deductions from what is discussed, then you have no business being employed - by anyone!

what makes you think this is coming out of ACs...........https://techworkerscoalition.org/

there's precedent for this.....other companies have unionized starting with tech before.....

marketable skills, no bonuses, limited raises, no salary bands, no stock grants, and already on the low end of cash comp...

You need a certain marketable skillset to form a union. Scamming, or assisting in the scamming, of people looking to better their lives is not a skill. Hope this helps.

I would live to see Admissions Counselors try to manage collective bargaining for the Tech folks pay. They’d demand AC’s get paid the same. What a joke.

Post ID: @yeq+1rpOBSkI, you sound like the type of individual whose parents will let you come work for the family business as a fallback option. You know, like in the event that you loose the first job you've ever had- after being there for @ 6 years - becaUse the company went under. Yeah, your that person.

@yeq+1rpOBSkI are you saying 2U employees are more replaceable than Starbucks? lol that’s dark

You all realize how stupid this sounds right? This isn’t McDonalds or Starbucks or a collection of electricians. They will just replace you which is super easy in this market with so many people not working. Be grateful you still have a job.

The sooner the better. While there is personal risk in forming a union, and getting a contract, being targeted by 2U for doing it is illegal. They know that well. If there had been more democracy in the process, things would not have gotten this bad. Let's not also forget who we are really working for, the students/ consumers who by word of mouth, keep the business going or tank the company.

at minimum making public noise about a union will hurt the stock price which should get mgmt to tune in

@wut+1rpOBSkI

Maybe. Assumes they know how to do that without letting the company fail in the meantime. Only one way to find out

They will just ship your jobs overseas… it’s just the reality of the situation so no, a union will not work.
