Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Hardware is the gift that keeps on giving

Another $2.2b profit to the bottom line from hardware this financial year. Since ORCL merge with JAVA we've seen $36b of PROFIT for ORCL. That's what funds your pay raises and bonuses.

Remember some people still have Sun living rent free in their heads. SUNW has been dead for 13 years and are still blamed for all of O's ills to this day. If hardware is a "drag" on O's wings then it is O's fault and only O's fault at this point.

You picked the wrong time to mention raises, bonuses, or even promotions!

IS there ever a good time?

Next time actually read from the proper accounts section instead of sounding foolish. The numbers you quote are from the last quarter, not the whole financial year :facepalmemoji:

This post is so wildly inaccurate and misleading that it defies the imagination. Then again, given that it is posted by a hardware cretin we should not expect anything close to reality.

*Inane statement #1: Oracle never "merge with JAVA". Oracle bought SUNW because of Java, i.e., not because of the hardware
*Inane statement #2: $2.2b profit to the bottom line from hardware. Another falsehood. Hardware revenue was $850M, down 1% from last fiscal year. Hardware margins were not reported. Operating expenses were $261M. HW Profits were WAY below 2.2.
*Furthermore, services revenue is rolled up for cloud, license, and hardware as 1.4B. Hardware services are not broken out. Additionally operating costs for services are about $1.3B. That leaves 100M total for services in FY23.

BEST CASE is the so-called profit you report as due to HW is more like (assuming 30% margin) is around 180M, and shrinking.
