Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Large Scale Layoffs Week of 10/8/23

Large scale layoffs in progress this week across AORs and teams in Claims, Distribution, Services, ATS and Finance, for example, AMCS Allstate Management Consulting Services was eliminated... sad, and ultimately this is always a failure of management, a failure to lead and drive mission and outcomes. Allstate is sinking...

The Allstate leadership are a bunch of pathetic cowards.

Snakes...the worst part is they have made these "layoffs" terminations by suddenly finding reasons to fire good employees.

RIF'd - IT software development role in ATS. Not unexpected with recent major reorg, company bleeding red ink, and repeated warnings of cost cutting from C-Suite management. If not now it would probably happen at the end of Q1 2024. Nothing is forever and time to move on to better opportunities.

If the claim department needed to add 1-2k head count to process claims because they were unable to become better and more efficient at the same time and over the time, bad on them and their senior leaders for building bridges backward. The rest of the organization will need to cover those costs short term because adding to the expense load without an offset is not an option given the performance and commitment of the organization. So sad, but so true and so required to keep the investors positive…the ability to design, lead and execute needed big change to compete differently knows no generation or experience limitation and only talent. Look your current senior leaders in the eye and ask the tough questions, as they’re making these decisions and they’re not simply dealing with the cards dealt to them. Thoughts to all impact past, present and tomorrow.

There are significant layoffs in TA, that indicates the company does not expect to be doing much hiring in the future.

What a bad time to get laid off, not only due to time of year but due to the economy as well. Those in TA will have a hard time finding other roles in TA.

There have not been any WARN notices filed. Allstate gets around it because so many that are being laid off are WFH. The same rules dont apply.

@1wyb+1p1KxdOr "Wondering how Allstate is doing this without filing WARN notices, which is mandatory for companies with employees > 75. CvS, Walgreens which also had mass layoffs last month have filed. "

The WARN notice requires companies to notify 60 days in advance of the last day/closure, if a person's last day is 60 days from today they just had to send the notice to the state by close of business today, most will send right before.

Then the state may not post on their WARN site right away, in some states it can be weeks prior to them getting it on their website, that is why they will list the date received.

Cannot find WARN notices filed by Allstate in North Carolina, Texas or Illinois where they have significant presence.

WARN notices were formally filed in appropriate jurisdictions. Don't for a minute think Allstate lawyers don't have every i dotted, every t crossed.

"Allstate is getting its a-s kicked in terms of both market share and profitability. Continue burying your head in the sand if you like, but I'm only stating facts. Just because you don't want to believe something doesn't make it untrue."

Nailed it. And one big reason is that they keep retaining the old timers who refuse to change their mindset and are more driven by getting their big bonus checks than making the organization profitable and able to respond to the market. So they keep doing the old school PMO cr-p while dynamic markets pass them by. Oh, and giving their stagnant mindset a brand new name every year-like 'Transformative Growth, Affordable, Simple Connected and now OBD. A year from now when that tanks because you have the same sclerotic id--ts in charge, they'll do another round of layoffs.

The company needs an en--a in middle and senior management.

The 10k+ has already begun happening and will continue. When you factor in all the outsourcing activity (i.e. layoffs or transfers to vendors) combined with RIFs, it will exceed 25% of the global employee headcount from just 1-2 years ago.

Allstate is getting its a-s kicked in terms of both market share and profitability. Continue burying your head in the sand if you like, but I'm only stating facts. Just because you don't want to believe something doesn't make it untrue.

Hmmm....several people received one on one meetings from their senior manager this morning to discuss, 'Changes in our organization and what it means for you.' But yes, I'm sure tHiS PoST iS cOMplETe nOnSEnsE. After all, the corporate office said so. You can trust them to have your best interests at heart and be completely honest with you, right?

Gotta be the same people who mindlessly lined up for shots like cattle and wore coffee filters to protect themselves from a virus with a 99% survival rate.

This is a total nonsense post.

It's sad how many people downvote when people call that out.

This post has zero specifics for someone on the know and is as vague as it comes.

And somebody throwing out a 10k layoff number...that is more than 25 percent if workforce. So absolutely not happening g

This company is a smoldering pile of trash. I left last year and gave warning on this site that 10k+ layoffs were forthcoming. No one seemed to believe it. If you're still there, have a little self respect and leave. It's truly a dumpster fire.

If true, timing is awful. Let's put folks out of work just ahead of the holiday season given the 60 day notice window. Right up there with the November 2020 debacle. Not a very caring leadership team. Never a good time, but there are better times to implement your plans.

Mainly actual layoffs at the point with conditional severance packages. However the most unskilled will find a place with a supplier partner to continue their journey.

And the agents are being chastised for the smallest of mistakes. If you make 3 small clerical errors on binding, your binding authority is taken away and your agency is
subject to being gobbled up by big blue. My associate was crying over loosing her authority yesterday for the 3rd clerical error. Guess this is the way they can eliminate us.
