Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Are you, guys, also completely burnt out?

I just can’t anymore. I’m too exhausted from stress and anxiety, and without a single thing to look forward to.

So everything here is cyclical, how I survived the last 20+ years is this: I just keep my head down and keep working. Focus each day on my work load and try not to get caught up in the RIF rumor mill. Anxiety will exhaust you, you just have to take it one day at a time. Its the loss of control that gets you, so update your resume (on company time). Look out on the job sites and see what's out there (on company time on your personal pc). Update your LinkedIn profile (on company time), if you've been on the fence about going back to school- now is the time to do. Make sure you add it to your goals so they have to Pay your current class/term if they RIF you since it was part of your performance plan. Have a plan in place for a RIF, write it out (on company time).
Look at the internal job postings, if you see something that looks interesting, apply for it.
Make sure your 401k is getting the 100% company match, milk them for everything you can get. Leave no benefit opportunity behind.

And last bit of advice, never make an enemy at this company- you never know who your next boss or co-worker will be.... or who might come back....

Beyond burned out. I hate this place so much but need the paycheck. It’s an awful season.

Completely agree. I'm also feeling the same. Stay strong everyone don't let this rif get to you. Stay focus and keeping going!

I think everyone is feeling that way but try not to take it all too seriously. It's corporate America and they could care less how you feel so don't give them your energy. What happens is completely out of your control. I am just going with it and cashing the checks. Hopefully you have someone you can complain to when it gets tough. We're here if you need to vent!

Yes! I am burned out beyond repair. The work load has never been manageable and it keeps growing. There's no time to recover between deadlines. Weekends are too short to be refreshing. PTO is great but when I return to work I feel as if there wasn't a break. Upper management is more uncaring than ever. I wish we'd get a new CEO.

Yes, me too, different industry, everybody's in the same mess. Don't forget the body sodium gets exhausted first under stress (leading to desperation, etc.), easy to fix (add a little sea salt to your food/drinks), but hard to detect/diagnose, mind what you eat/drink, don't neglect physical exercise. Stay away from doctors and hospitals.

Not sure I would say I’m stressed out. At this point I just don’t care about the job anymore. It has become such a poorly run mess that I can’t take it seriously. I still do my job and stay under the radar, but once you stop caring the stress and anxiety go away. The only thing I would say gives me any anxiety at all is the fact that I eat have to start doing interviews at other companies this year. I hate the interview process more than anything.
