They almost always begin with "I'm sure by now you've seen the many posts about someone's last day at ExxonMobil...", and then they proceed to talk about how they've been inspired to share something different regarding employment at the company. What follows is a nauseating, self-congratulatory career autobiography that paints an unrealistic picture of what a career at XOM is like for the vast majority of people. The most recent one I tried to read (but couldn't finish) by a mister G. K. PhD, was as bad as they get.
Why do these people feel the need to share this sh-t in response to people's posts about doing what is best for themselves and leaving a toxic company and environment? What are their underlying motivations? Instead of glorifying a corporation that has fu---d multitudes of people over and is bringing itself to the brink of destruction through it's ineptitude and abhorrent management & leadership, why aren't these brilliant thought-leaders taking a hard look at why the attrition is so high, why the culture and environment so toxic, and posting thoughtful commentary on that? The cynic in me believes they're motivated purely by self-interest. Their actions are just another strategic move in an attempt to gain favor with other like-minded XOMbies and those above them.
