They kept adding more and more work and now I'm at the point where I can't do half of it because of burnout. My productivity has halved. I don't even care. If they want to fire me, they can do it. I'm so tired all the time that getting my life back would be a good thing - even if I had to tighten my belt for a while.

Yeah same here! The issue is that the higher level management are worse than useless and haven't got a clue. I won't be working here much longer!
Ahhhh sooo sad..no one cares!!!
If you are the one being overworked, you are one of the holes in a bucket full of water.
The flow of water (work) will never stop while you are a ho-e.
Yes, that sounds familiar. When the company needed more work out of you, they used every avenue of communication at full throttle. But if you had any needs, good luck getting a reply at all. I have been out over a year now and will never go back.
You get paid for 40 hours, its your fault if you work more than you want to. Don't blame the company. I did that for 40 years , worked 70 - 80 hour weeks , no vacation time, weekends , nights. It was my fault!
No more I am at my computer for 35 - 40 hours , but only do very little now. One increase years ago of less than 1% and another small one last year and didnt even come within 5% of cost of living increases.
It's how DXC rolls. At one point I had been scheduled for 8 hours of meeting a day for three days across various clients. As a technical consultant, I had actual development work to do. My manager, who was on some of these meetings, asked me if I was getting the assigned development work done. I told him that I wasn't, and was then lectured on how these commitments had been made and how I should be working well into the evenings to ensure these commitments were kept.
It's at that point I reached out to a former colleague at a different company and set up a meeting that started me on the path to leaving this accursed company.
Absolutely what they do. I just started saying no. They can get rid of me if they want, I don’t give a darn. It may be the best thing for someone to be kicked out of a bad job. People tend to hang in with bad jobs for some reason. There are plenty others out there.
No organization, no employer, no person, no job is worth sacrificing the only one thing you have in this life: your health. When that deteriorates, it will affect every aspect of your personal/professional life and those around you. No amount of money or luxury can rectify that.
Push your excess work back to your manager and explain that you cannot carry that work load. Do so as professionally as you can. If that means a "mark" on your file, or they sack you, so be it. You will still have your health and sanity.
Do not burn out at DXC. DXC will do anything to either, 1) get you back to work as soon as possible even if you haven't fully recovered, or 2) do their best to get rid of you (e.g. bullying, psychological warfare, etc.), or 3) fire you. Happened to multiple colleagues in my area, do not let it happen to you.
Hang in there, anon.
