Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Just here for a severance

After 18 years I am just going through the motions for a severance. All desire and drive is gone. I quit doing extra and striving for "BTE" after the 2020 massacre. I am doing what is expected and nothing more to keep a paycheck rolling in and they will take what I give them per day as long as I get that check every two weeks, And their alternative is to give me my deserved severance and let me split from this vile, failing company. Either way I hold the cards as I am not giving them a reason to terminate me for cause and I am not going to quit. A pretty good gig if you ask me. Ball is in your court Big Blue.

"SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!"

Too bad some of those a-holes at APP in Cali don't get riffed.

@1vfo+1phOqtkb Between my social anxiety, bad attitude/authority issues and general incompetence I really can’t work most other places. I was a straggler at a different insurance company, here I’m a top performer!

Sadly, I’m not even kidding.

I'm pretty sure NatGen will be impacted. Customer Service, FNOL, IT help desk, any other call center job can be easily contracted out to a vendor or handled by off shore staff for cost savings.

Yeah, that checks out. Their "retirement" email announcement came at a pretty odd time. Last day will be 1/31/24. They're still hiring folks in departments and not much word has been spoken about folks being laid off over on the NatGen side. All that has been said so far is "some restructuring has been done to close identified silos and reduce bureaucracy with unnecessary middle management" .

I would look at the departure of senior leaders of Nat Gen, like the VP of claims, as a pretty good sign that layoffs are headed Nat Gen's way.

It would be cute if it wasn't so pathetic, the way some Nat Gen employees think they won't get swatted away by "the good hands" like so much used trash. Esirance folks used to think they were "special", too. I'd tell you to ask one how it worked out for them, but there are very few around anymore.

Does anyone have word if more layoffs will be occurring in Q124 and if it will affect NatGen and Allstate or just Allstate?

I know many in this similar situation. We work, we actually do our job, do it well but no one is ever SAFE

Just here for the "Mayhem".

Everytime I see Carl in an ad I can't help but laugh at the irony of his creation coming from a cry from within Allstate. Carl, blink twice if Tommy Toupee and his funkies have touched you in a bad place.

BLINK

Allstate created this culture through their claims practices, bad products and staff self training. There are no real opportunities in claims on the grassroots level. Teamwork and caring about your Team is a thing of the past. Dog eat Dog world of Allstate . Do your job well and don’t work more than 40 hours a week take your 2 fifteen minute breaks and 1 hour lunch. Don’t take Allstate corporate or the nasty customers personally. It’s a job. Your time in exchange for money. Find another way to make a living and show them the bird before they do it to you. Severance is not worth it as long as you can replace your income first and resign. It’s always better to leave on your own accord. Gives you the power back in your own life. Liberate yourself from Allstate Tyranny.

Are you all too stupid to work someplace else that you claim to work for a cr-ppy company for years??

For 18 years , half of what has probably been not so pleasant for that person I would say that if they were to be laid off that the severance package is deserved. I have only been here 6 years and regret almost all of it.

their alternative is to give me my deserved severance.

Deserved? Entitlement issues just like all the boomers at this company who thinks allstate owes them something else. Fir 18 years you got a paycheck and weren't complaining

Allstate is probably still a good place to start a career (recognizable name on a resume) and pays competitively, but you have to be ready to cut and move.

My whole team and even our leader is on board with this. Anyone who tries to go above and beyond t make this a meaningful career is just fooling themselves and wasting their time. Allstate quit being a place for a career 10+ years ago. Just use them for a check and take their severance money. Show them no loyalty as these sc-mbags don't know the meaning of the word. Do for yourselves and sc--w the fat cats in Chicago.

That's pretty much what I did after the Oct. 2022 RIF. (I was actually surprised to not get hit at that time but did my job, nothing more). Alas, I was RIFd this go around and happy to have some sort of a package/severance, particularly leading up to the holidays. The whole thing is mentally exhausting.

For those remaining: First, good luck! This company has not been fun to work for these past several years and I feel for you. Second, as others have stated in other threads, I strongly recommend finding other employment NOW; build your network, explore your options, think about what you want to do and which companies you'd like to work for. Do your research now during this downtime; you'll be glad you did. With Trian coming in, who knows what the package will look like in Q124 when more layoffs are likely to happen. Save your money, be prepared for the inevitable. Layoffs these days are not based on performance, just a job band and salary range. They are only trying to get to a number and in their eyes, that's all you are: a number. Chin up everyone, don't let Astate make you question your worth. You don't have to stick around for severance if you are working for another company that recognizes your value. There really are better companies out there.

You're certainly not the only one that feels that way OP. Clock in, muddle through, clock out, get my check. I have a lot less stress and a lot less feeling of obligation doing this and I am much happier.
