660 Lumen employees in the US and Canada have been laid off
I remember when Kate first laid off the 1200 stating that would be it, guess they didn’t reach their EOI goal

With 20 years you’re under the water line? Damn…some serious seniority there
I've been with Qwest/CenturyLink/Lumen for over 20 years. Due to the Union contract, when Lumen invoked article 14, the process for a layoff is reverse seniority. I'm one of the unlucky ones. My department will be losing 3/4 of the folks, just as our busy summer time starts. Smart... It's always about the money, not those who work everyday for the company. I can't tell you how horrible this feels, 20 years.....
After 17 years, I was one of the latest 660 people shown the door.
My KPI's were almost always in the exceeds range, but I didn't by into the Dare To Lead BS.
I guess my unwillingness to be brainwashed into the cult, I had to go.
I was in on the NA service desk as a T2 in my final roll.
The severance paperwork says I agree to not say anything bad about the company for at least 1 year.
Will post again in 364 days....
Well “Ana”, the question was asked when the union would be notified of a layoff. You stated across several threads it was today. You said you were in a meeting and was notified it would be today. I havnt heard a thing. Has anyone? Anywhere?
This is honestly infuriating. I'm not trying to float but I have been a top performer in every role I have had with lumen Technologies. Then I get laid off??? I was told that this was completely random and not performance related?? I'm absolutely outraged. I worked with the quantum fiber team when all this started on Monday. We were told that quantum was safe because we are a newer brand to the company. What a load of cr-p. No warnings about another round of layoffs after the first one. Had to join a team meeting with someone from corporate just so he could tell everyone "it's not that bad" and "not to worry" my entire team including my manager who had been with the company for 25+ years got the axe. And don't even get me started about the garbage severance package, and all of the legal stuff in the contract if I even want to receive my severance. Don't get me wrong, getting severance pay is better than not getting anything. I am grateful, but the amount of strings attached is INSANE. They even say "we recommend getting a lawyer to go over the contract with you" like who is going to pay for that after getting laid off? I'll stop ranting now but this company needs to figure it out. A friend of mine got laid off in the first round, got a job in a different department.. then got laid off again in this most recent round. Garbage. Do better.
Maybe the question people need to ask is when the notice will be sent to “union” employees. I promise there was not enough volunteers across all departments.
Once that is sent people have 60 days.
"this SLT is an absolute joke. You can't make this sh-t up. They are literally fu--ing up the company like FJB is fu--ing up the country. No rhyme or reason to the candidate selected for RIF. They are nailing coffins shut on departments with the talent they've off-ed. Unfu--ing believable." - 11 hours ago by Anonymous Post ID: @1uln+1sa9EWrH
The SLT is mostly from Level3. KJ and Ward are a bit clueless in this business. Why did they replace Dugan with Ward?
What depts (groups) are part of the lay off… Sales? Billing?

I was cut as well as as a large chunk of other sellers. Maybe KJ is just over her head. Or the y think A.I. and Lumen Marketplace will lure prospective customers in. Not likely in the near future. Customers still want to speak with people! People that speak english and can understnd their need.
New company name = Looosermen
Just found out about half of the non-union onshore tech support folks were let go from Quantum Fiber. The other half of us have to pick up the pieces, offshore/outsource vendors are going to take us over I'm sure. I was in CenturyLink repair when they offshored everything. Managed to make it over to Quantum after assurances that "we're all about white glove, this is the future of the company, etc.", but obviously that doesn't matter when execs continue to drive the company into the ground. What a miserable joke of a company.
Just heard from a teammate that he's being laid off, last day is Friday. Don't know how they're going about notifying people, so no idea if it'll come around to me. He had about 20 years with the company going back to the Sprint side, and I'm at about 17 years myself. Absolutely terrible for someone so experienced and knowledgeable to lose their job.
"Do we still get or bonus next year if we are laid off? I would assume no but someone in the volunteer layoff said they will still get it."
Anyone on STI who was employed more than 90 days is eligible to receive their prorated STI.
Kate is cleaning house.
Out with old and argumental.
In with young and obedient.
🤔

Let me see if I got the Employee Survey Question correct from last week, "Would you recommend family members or friends to work for Lumen?". How can an employee choose"Absolutely", when 1 comes in an 660 go out? You would have to tell your friend or family member not to put up anything personal at their desk. In fact just come to work on day 1 with a pencil. Also, I wouldn't invest in a home, buy a new car or plan any expensive trips because you are not too sure on the longevity of the job. One other question that seems to be a kick in the pants "How much longer do you want to work for Lumen, 1 year, 2-5 years, more than 5 years, etc.?". I'm wondering if people chose more than 5 years and Kate said "we ain't having that!".
From a previous poster "Why are layoffs the only way this company can find money?" I'll tell you why, leadership is incompetent, service is going downhill fast, and customers are fleeing. But the main reason is the first one I listed..
Best of luck to you. I hope as the saying goes, when one door closes another one opens. It sounds like the doors are closing in on Lumen.
Any news on BUs or role types affected?
I was cut, sounds like everyone laid off is gone Friday except a few, I was extended. Why are layoffs the only way this company can find money?
