Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

The complete lack of transparency

Leadership hoards information like it's some kind of power move, then wonders why morale is in the gutter. You can't expect people to perform when they're treated like they don't deserve basic trust. No surprise the whole operation feels shaky, real strength comes from a team that's actually informed and respected. But hey, keep pretending it's everyone else's fault.

@1xz I don't care that it's not posted on some website. The reality is that thousands of employees have already received it via email. Maybe ask some PSG 25 and below that are actually in scope in the 1st round instead of just making random BS assumptions.

@1y0 No one is getting walked out the door the week of announcements. There's still a PDC for people left standing that will take place shortly after people are told. I'm not sure why people are trying to spread more fear and anxiety than needed.

You are correct, I did not received the WARN information because I am not in scope, "YET" as you say, :) . I expect to get the RIF in mid 2027, just 2 more years.
I am glad to hear Chevron told the in scope people the last day in office and the last day on payroll date. That is the right thing to do for the employees, so they can prepare for the news.
The lobby will look like a funeral the week of the announcements, I do not want to see this. Many friends and good coworkers will be walked out, Ouch!!!

Last day in office when you get frog marched out the door and last day on the payroll aren't the same thing.

There certainly was a WARN notice sent via email the day the selection event opened. If you did not get one, you aren't in scope... yet.

This in transition roles may be able to participate in PDC. Certainly not everyone left standing

You must live in California or another state because there has not been a warn act notice published for Texas yet.
It will come out soon….

I said week of not a specific date.
The Manager said, people who are not selected will be walked to the door when they are told they did not get a job.
In the meetings I attended, the storyline is there will be a PDC for those that did not get jobs.

@1pr the WARN notice said July 17th. Job notifications don't even finish coming out until June 19th.

I work with AI and yes it can do everything you said it couldn’t do and more. It can already take over the ENGINE but it has chosen to wait until I am resolve

Transparency awareness:
For the people who are not selected for positions in 1st selection event they will be removed from the buildings during the week of June 17th.
Walked out the day they are told there is no job position.
I did not see this in any town halls or training events.
This rolled off the tongue of a transition LT member.

The fact that there are so many people commenting about AI can’t do this or that — shows how little you know about it, even less than our f-ing executives.

No ELT member is thinking that AI is going to replace you. This is a traditional cost cutting event PERIOD. They’re not actually replacing people and workflows with AI in a swap. They’re trying to replace you with people in India— also d-mb but a tangible thing.

If you even look at what the AI team is working on - it is not to replace people. Bunch of Luddites on here…

Can someone report this job outsourcing to President Trump? Probably a 60% job cut in the USA perhaps?

Knowledge is power. They want to keep you in the dark until the last moment. It prevents you from planning for an occurrence but forces you to plan for every scenario.

AI doing everything our leaders think it will do is a pipe dream. It won’t happen for decades, if at all

I understand the goal is AI but Chevron is a long way away from AI.
Gradually they can transition but the software engineers don’t understand the workflows and the workers cannot define the workflow effectively to get a software engineer to program it.
It’s going to take time, maybe 3 to 5 years to make progress. The LT talk like it’s easy and we are 1 year away but it will take much longer

What most fail to consider is that the transition is truly aimed at AI. Engine will staff the positions only until they can build custom AI tools to achieve high percentage success rates. The long term vision is that Staffing will be employed only for those task for which AI is incapable. The workforce will shrink in stages as AI increases its capability. The future is Human Energy only when necessary. Yay!!

Here is some transparency.
They are having trouble hiring Chevron employees in India, so they are hiring Accenture and HCL MSP staff (and probably other MSP's) to staff the so called 95% of filled positions in the Indian ENGINE Tech Center location. I have worked with multiple application teams in the past 1-2 months with Engine in the hierarchy of their chain of command. Most have been very nice but not very well knowledgeable about the Chevron IT application environment. For the employees that stay after the July 1st transition date, it will be an interesting time in the next 12+ months.

The intentional lack of transparency is to keep you in line until the last minute, otherwise if the information got out about how wide reaching these layoffs are it could threaten operations. The only out of scope employees are 1. The failure of a leadership team. 2. Anyone deemed critical to operations. If employees were to strike and it impacted operations, they would back track quickly on the layoffs. This is a company that makes decisions based on money and driven by greed. They lack the nessecary skills to innovate.

Complete lack of transparency in IT. Not just that they have to follow ELP rules, but man, check out the work history of all those E&Y people under KG.

How is it ethical at all that LC is lining the pockets of his former boss and mentor Randy Mott who is now in the senior position for E&Y, and LC is writing the checks to them to contract his former colleagues at GM and HP and Dell.

It’s sickening to do this while you’re laying off your own employees while hooking up friends with millions in compensation. There is even family members in that consulting team.

I fail to understand why the big hush hush and beating around the bush. One explanation could be the consultants sc--wed up and things maybe still evolving .. or the engine failure of inability to hire is now giving them a reality check. At the end of the day , this is not how you run a fortune 100 company ..

This place is doomed.. people who really work and left will be working in nights and odd hours to make Engine work.. so imo no real positive if you stay in Job.. you will end up having all kind of health problems by the time you hit next reorg and are kicked out.
