Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

How bad did we do in Medicare?

Sorry guys, i am fairly new here but ive been hearing about how bad medicare got after a few of the teams were laid off or left?
How bad did we do in medicare? I was hired and was not given any information on anything, and have been trying to figure out how things are running on my own in-order to be able to properly do my job, but even that has been kind of tricky bc there's literally no information being told to me by my sups.

Wellcare is still run by the same old boys club, that didn't change with the acquisition, Sarah London has no done anything about because those Drew's people. They should sell the medicare business or divest it. But it doesn't seem will happen, it just will fail miserably because they refuse to listen and continue to persist on the past.

It is the contrary, Wellcare has continuously blame Centene, they have fired great people from Centene as scapegoats at Drew's behest and they continue to go backwards, if anything they gotten huge support from Centene, there are good people in Wellcare, it is the leadership what is rotten to the core.

Wellcare has been operating with the same people, the same autonomy, the industry has changed, they haven't. Too arrogant to admit they are the pit .

It’s hilarious Centene people keep blaming WellCare. You bought us because of our success and you ran it into the toilet. WellCare never had below 3 stars. Never.

They have fired all kinds of good people, but the folks close to Drew, and those are the ones screwing up the whole thing, Unbelievable

Centene bought Wellcare because Michael wanted to get into medicare and grow into that space, Wellcare has been in decline for a long while already , it is getting worse, because they refuse to change and " the leadership" has remained untouched, same old people with the same old manual, too much politics around it, Jim Murray who is a Humana veteran gave up on it, because they have Drew, Burwick in the Board, the CEO of medicare all a bunch of dudes that they don't accept new ideas, or change and Sarah London is just an id--t, it is locked game and it will fail miserably because a bunch of dudes ego s and a functional id--t CEO

All you Einsteins realize Centene bought WellCare due to its success in Medicare. If Centene is doing poorly this year in the LOB, it’s because the previous Sales Leaders left starting at the beginning of the year. Those guys were the drive behind the success at WC and left as they saw what was starting to happen with Centene. Now the Sales Team is led by Kim Woodard from CA who had no inkling of the past success or how to continue it. Instead her and her team decided to dismantle the previous successful processes and install their own bad ones. I was part of the team that drove the Medicare sales and was laid off back in April. Best day of life actually as I read these posts and talk to former team members who just don’t understand the logic behind Centene.

The people who are in Wellcare then are the same people now, that is probably part of the problem, same cronies with same old ideas, they have more autonomy now than ever, I think that was part of the reason the COO Murray got out, he tried to fix it and that is Drews territory, they are too D-mb and too close minded and too arrogant to accept they are just wrong about things they do , they are they ones are ki-ling Centene ,btw ,they never were doing that great, maybe a bit better, but Wellcare has never been that great, now is doing horrible.

Why continuously blame the people from WellCare for the condition of Medicare? When WellCare was operating independently States were signing up rapidly. It's not Legacy WellCare's fault. Maybe it's all the prior auth requirements that Centene forces patient and providers to go through to get medically necessary services that are covered by Medicare. If I was a member or a provider I would be upset too.

Corporate America is governed by egos, as long as there is a dwarf but big ego dude like Drew around, medicare is screwed, they won't be able to see the forest for the trees, they will realize medicare is in flames when the board calls them out to get fired

As long as Drew is the CFO and Sarah the CEO medicare will get 0 improvements, it will indeed go backwards. Just be careful with hr ,they have fired great people just because they dear to try to fix things.

Everyone knows that medicare is the pit, it will not get fixed because those are Wellcare people close to Drew.

It is interesting to see how the folks from medicare (Wellcare) in Centene, that is the shittiest part of the business, have that many executives in charge.

Medicare is not fine, and it is true, the people who are there aren't any good. They just happen to be connected with the CFO and the CEO is just a puppet not able change anything.

@1tby+1pPv67uD he is been there more than two year, previously CFO of Wellcare, so yeah he is been there forever, the problems with are nothing but him and his team, corporate quality was as much as they could to the extent they improve the score this year, but rumors has it they have since this mid year now a jerk running quality, that doesn't understand half of work, that doesn't have the stamina neither patience to do what is right, and things are going backwards big time, the medicare CEO is just there because of Drew, he should have been fire a year ago, he is finance guy, not an operator. But they lick their wounds among themselves

So much misinformation here. The CEO in Medicare has been in that role for what - 2 years? Prior to that he was finance.

Yes. Surprisingly enough, the wellcare people know other wellcare people. Funny how that works.

Medicare is fine. It’s not going anywhere. Quality scores su-k but that’s from decisions made 3 years ago. Those teams had to be let go.

It’ll take 3 years to fix those scores even if we have a great year in 2024.

Right, the medicare CEO has been there for years despite the debacle going on , all because he is Drews friends, they will throw people under the bus to keep the job , just be careful, nobody there is a friend.

Medicare is bad and will get worse, the people who are there are in charge very close to the CFO, and you can't argue with them because they will grind your bones with HR. There is no space for criticism or attempt to improve it Just play the game for as long as you can if you want to keep your job

Nobody cares, it's very political, do not stick your head out too much because they could accuse you of a cultural misfit, everybody is just playing the game of pretending, sad but that's the state of affairs here

Medicare is bad, it will get worse because they the people who are close to Drew from Wellcare that they will never change as long as Drew the mid-et is there. In Centene politics and favoritism supersede performance, badly run company with mediocre CEO.
