Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Worn down

I have worked at a few places, but this one takes the prize for how drained it leaves me. You can put in steady effort and still walk away feeling invisible. Folks talk about support, yet no one shows it when it matters. Lately I feel like I am just pushing through the days to get by.

@1rx You apparently have no idea what us "happy HealthSpring people" have been doing the last 5 years. We had a 3 year death march project to rebuild our entire business and fully integrate with Cigna and as soon as that project was done, Cigna decided we should move everything to be independent of Cigna, obviously prepping us for sale. Before that project even finished, the sale happened and we started moving everything for the Cider integration. We've been showing up and doing the work for a while now and we are all exhausted.

@1rx We’re not happy nor delusional about job security. I can’t speak for everybody but I’m no wishing job loss on any HCSC employee. I just wish the executive team would realize that they could probably skip the avocado toast and lattes so that people could not risk homelessness.

Can I just say…. The happy Health Spring people are the worst. Totally tone deaf and selfish thinking that the “Cider” integration goal shields them from all this. They’ll have a nice surprise come 2026 when they need to actually show up and do the work.

@194 look at who is giving them lectures in “emotional intelligence” for the answer to that question.

@cf you hit the nail on the head. The key to the paycheck is “pretend all is well”. That honestly matters more than anything.

Also feels like the leadership team takes pleasure in seeing us this way. How else can you explain their attitude and lack of empathy.

I agree. I’m exhausted. I’m burned out by the apathy.

Yes, I stop giving extra effort often these days, though I could do a lot more. Mostly because it is just no longer worth it. We are no longer recognized for our extra efforts unless you or your area are a favorite of upper management. It does wear on you after a while because there are constant dysfunctional happenings daily. Do your job, work your hours, and pretend all is well. Do this to keep your sanity until things get better or you find something better.

@OP Same. I am so worn down. I am forced to get involved in things way beyond the scope of my job. It isn’t fair and the stress is ki-ling me. Cannot find another role. The company is beyond dysfunctional. There are a few departments that bring others down. All of us. Praying for a positive change.

I agree, things are bad. Also, the job market is kind of cr-ppy, so feels like, as employees, we have no leverage. I feel that the last round of layoffs just sent the message that we are all disposable, which is very sad. Greed is destroying this company.
